Could it be said that Americans have replaced God with the US Constitution?

@SW-User agree they conflate nationhood with sainthood and vice versa. to me, our constitution is a law and different than faith. but, i can't speak for anyone else here.

No. The Prelude to the US Constitution was the Declaration of Independence.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

The Constitution, (our law), does NOT mention God, deliberately, because one of the laws stated therein had to do with the separation of Church and State.

God is of course, the ultimate law, and all the righteous laws of man, including those within our Constitution, are based upon the Ten Commandments.

On our money, we print, "In God we trust."
Not really. The Constitution has not prohibited religion; churches, synagogues, temples and other places of worship exist and are legal. Even “separation of church and state” is a policy begun as a concept encouraged by Jefferson and usually adhered to for several reasons, primarily…

Freedom of religion includes all religions (not just Christianity) as well as freedom from religion. The U.S. was not
established as a theocracy.

No one is required to follow any specific religious beliefs—but everyone here must follow our country’s laws.

So they need to remain separate.

Well, this American sees no divinity in politics. Or churches, for that matter.

I DO see people who fervently invoke the Constitution as long as it supports their goals. If it doesn’t they ignore it, deny it or try to alter it.

That is not love.

@Mamapolo2016 To my mind, politics and religious faith of any kind should never meet. Religion is the belief in a form of afterlife. A reward we may go to after this life.. Politics is the art or science we subject ourselves to when dealing with the problems we face in this life, up to the moment we die. Now its fine to have whatever faith you wish here. Just dont allow it to overflow into the rule or expectations you have as to how others may act here.😷
No, too many people with differing opinions on both ( God, Allah, or Jehova) and the U.S. . Constitution.

i can't speak for everyone, but i see the constitution as separate from religion. another way, the constitution doesn't tell me what God to believe in.

It can be said that the current administration is using “God” to replace the constitution and as soon as they do they will drop the facade and quit being religious.
