Could it be said that Americans have replaced God with the US Constitution?

No. The Prelude to the US Constitution was the Declaration of Independence.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

The Constitution, (our law), does NOT mention God, deliberately, because one of the laws stated therein had to do with the separation of Church and State.

God is of course, the ultimate law, and all the righteous laws of man, including those within our Constitution, are based upon the Ten Commandments.

On our money, we print, "In God we trust."
