I do but I cannot say I am a believer in the dogma of any church. The new testament canon requires its adherents to believe that a particular individual, who lived his entire life as a Jew and claims the Supreme Being as a parent provides salvation for his believers, specifically excluding Jews from such prospects if they remain "unbelievers" in his salvation. For me, it is an intellectual stretch.

My late mother was a devout Christian who regularly attended and took me along from an early age. My late grandmother was equally committed and I accompanied her after Mother's passing. I still like various aspects of going to church. I LOVE dressing up in my Sunday apparel. I enjoy the music and, often, provide the keyboard accompaniment to the singing. The fellowship is wonderful. I find the serenity of a peaceful day of rest is therapeutic for my soul.

I became "questioning" in my teens and, actually, had some unpleasant encounters with some contemporaries when I raised those issues in the afternoon bible study meetings at the church I attended. I found the latter had little in the manner of reasoned intellectual response, although some acted out their hostility to my views in a somewhat unpleasant manner.

If it was not for the pastor of that congregation I might have left.

Yes even though I'm not religious in any traditional sense of the word... it's an important social event.
Nah, reading the Bible first hand is a much better way to get convinced religion is a bad way to live life than hearing someone else's opinion about it.

When I go to the local church, I notice the majority of people are in shape, are teachers/doctors/lawyers, humble despite these achievements and are incredibly kind and are constantly engaging in charity. Then whenever I go to any secular gathering, most people are overweight, uneducated, no career, have this fake ID politics virtue signalling kindness and the odd one that does get a degree feels that gives them the right to belittle anyone who politically disagrees with them.

No, I stopped going a long time ago. Best decision I ever made. I prefer having church at home alone.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
I haven’t in awhile …. That is changing this year for me!

From the time I was about 10 I begged my mother to let me stop going to church. She said I would appreciate it when I was older. I promised I wouldn't. She finally let me stop when I was 14. Never went back.

No. I avoid such places as they dens of cult iniquity. To me they are all copies of the South Glade Mission Church (Kingsman movie). Shun the non-believer(s).

Just got home from going to Church. I will be going to Bible Study on Tuesday and leading a Care Group on Wednesday.
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
Since it is all in your head anyways, why not just pray while walking around or at home or work, and you get to save those coins.

Yes, but not currently because of a greater responsibility for caregiving. So still contribute and still on the mailing list and still belong.
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
I stopped going many moons ago. I still believe in god. I just don’t believe in organized religion.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I did before I got sick and I will again once I'm 100% certain I can sit there for an hour.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@DressyAlex Why do you find Christianity a stretch? I find it the most sane explanation out there.
BigImo · 26-30, F
