Do you believe this scripture is true?

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:8–9)

Of course not. You have to wonder how many times those tales were told, retold, edited, censored and approved by the powerful who had interests to protect/promote/profit from.

Not directed at you but many religious people are offended by verbal misgivings about their beliefs. Here's a shocker - many unbelievers are put off by any attempts to pass laws that enshrine fairy tale thinking in everyone's everyday lives starting with In God We Trust.

@RenFur Religion doesn't have to be a form of mental enslavement. It's a chosen way of life that fosters personal growth and moral development. Throughout history, humanity has displayed both admirable qualities and egregious acts of cruelty. The primary goal should be dismantling oppressive institutions that have inflicted widespread suffering. True Christianity emphasizes love for others, respect for oneself and stewardship of the environment. The question we grapple with is: What causes the evermore enduring presence of evil within humanity and what prevents us from attaining harmony?

Pondering upon that last question, we may not have tangible evidence of a divine being, but there are observable manifestations of malevolent forces at work in the world. Despite all of our advancements, humanity still contends with internal and external struggles. Truly, many of us are already living in hell.

Oh? That sounds like a guarantee when nothing at all in this world is.

Malevolent forces? From where? Underground where "the devil" resides? LOL

@whowasthatmaskedman Why not? Is God not loving and forgiving? If we confess what we did, and repent, I think we can be forgiven.

No its self fulfilling. If taken at face value if i commit treason or murder. No one will care so long as i own up to (take responsibility) for it.
In reality id still go to prison.
jehova · 31-35, M
@Justice4All ok so god holds no one responsible? Hitlers in heaven next to the columbine shooters and satan?
Okay.
Justice4All · 36-40, M
@jehova God holds people responsible for their actions. True repentance isn't just saying you're sorry. Hitler obviously didn't repent before he died... he committed suicide because he was a coward and afraid to own up to what he had done.

By the way Hitler isn't the only person in hell. I'm sure Joe Biden and Donald Trump are going to be right down there with him along with many American leaders who have committed atrocities. Anyone who takes innocent life is equivalent to Hitler.
jehova · 31-35, M
@Justice4All i wonder what happened to hitler that drove him to such violence. You are correct the punishment is supposed to fit fhe crime. Just taking responsibility doesnt exempt one from punishment.

@RenFur Of course it is. Time for me to start relying more on Unicode look-alike characters.
