Wierd cougar 'dating' group on Facebook... and what it is about all the self-baked cakes every post mentions?

"Today I turn xxx [a random age in the 40 to 70 range]. No husband, no children, no friends—but I baked the cake myself 🥹💖"

Can someone explain what the 'but I baked the cake myself' bit means?

I don't understand it at all.

Is it some sort of underhanded anti-men feminist jibe?

I think this may have something to do with that "I baked myself a cake so I wouldn't cry on my birthday" trend that was going about a few months ago.

I have a feeling the 'i baked the cake myself' bit might be intended as a dig men for 'not showing any interest' in them.

That is a 'pink flag' (almost a red flag) in itself.

Maybe it means that they thought about baking a cake, then they did it without anyone's help. Therefore the "by myself" part.

@WaryWitchWandering Yeah I know the first few times I had a post out of the group show up in my feed I was like 'wtf is this in any way legit?'

Like I said above I fully do not understand it. Could be due to my neuro-divergency not providing a way to process what it's trying to mean.
