24 and 16 is stretching it way too much imo... 24 and 20 is better, way better..

When I was 22 I dated a 17 years old girl, it happened..

I had a very hard time adjusting my life to hers quite honestly .. she was still in high-school and I was studying for my masters degree, she had her own set of "school type problems" and "parents type problems" that I already had forgotten about, I had my own types of problems, like job and home and car, that I couldn't share with her.. plus her friends that looked and thought like little kids that I had to also deal with.. plus sometimes the childish behavior that I can never stand.. I took care of her though, but it felt more like she's a little sister to me, not a lover, a partner...etc

and I was 22 and she was 17.. now imagine 24 and 16, dude gotta be mentally sick to get himself into a circus like that, not to mention pedophilia and issues with the law..

Legally? Depends on where you live. But he's still a pedo in my book 🤷 that's a child. What's a grown ass man want with a girl who hit puberty four years ago, still has a curfew and is still required to answer to her parents? "Age of consent" was lowered to sixteen in some places so parents couldn't sue if a partner older by two years suddenly turned 18 while the other was still 16. But pedos love to use that as an excuse to get at kids.

@akindheart I get that it seems unfair but even if she came on to him.. he, being an adult, was not helpless, he made a choice, others would have made a different choice, however tempted they were. She was still technically a child, and so the law is the law. I think many would have sympathy for your cousin though.

@Piper As the host said, and many don't understand this. It is actually legal to wed at 16 in many states (he said 39, I didn't really bother to check if this number is exactly right though).

If by “date” you mean all the things that are involved with modern dating, it depends on the state, but if you mean just dating like going on dates and getting close emotionally but not sexual activity, then yes that’s legal

Parents can not give permission for ANY sexual act with a minor, and it would have to be a very platonic date. If at any time the 24 year old guy touches the minor child sexually he becomes a pedophile. That is why those children are called jail bait.

16 is the age of consent for many of the states and for many countries. However many seem to frown upon it. There are some parents out there who would okay it, especially if they have come to know you.

In Arkansas they can date WITHOUT her parents permission and they have no restrictions based on their age difference.

**Age of consent is the legal age in which a person can consent to sexual intercourse. Any person under the age of consent is deemed to be mentally incapable of consenting to sex. Thus, if an adult has sex with a minor below the age of consent, the adult may be charged with statutory rape.

In Arkansas, a person must be at least 16 years old in order to consent to sex. Generally, when both parties are over 16 years of age, there will be no age-related legal issues concerning the validity of the consent between them.
