Is it that bad if I make a surprise for my lover then he got nothing for me for Valentine's?

LadyGrace · 70-79
I think it's really rotten of him to tell you the truth. There's someone that claimed he loved me so much as a friend and went on and on about how much I do for him, and I've known him for 10 years, yet he couldn't remember my birthday at all, didn't wish me a happy birthday and he didn't even give me a lousy Christmas card. He is now history! Funny how he never forgets his other friends birthday and his aunts birthday. What a jerk! I sure don't miss him.

Tell him how you feel. You must be disappointed otherwise you wouldn't have told us. He might make it up to you. If he doesn't show any interest, then you need to tell him that this bothers you and come to an agreement on what to do on valentines day.

"Love seeks not it's own"...love is more about the giving than the receiving, but it is disappointing (even frustrating) when someone you love doesn't think enough to reciprocate. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing necessarily, unless they make a habit of it, people are not perfect and do get side tracked or forget. In the very least they should show some gratitude and appreciation (and a little remorse, regret, and embarrassment for their own neglect is nice too). That's why my wife and I don't believe in or celebrate Valentine's day, we can and do show and express our love EVERY day of the year and not just try to cram it into a single holiday.

Well it ain't good
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@plungesponge as a point of view of a guy, how?
plungesponge · 41-45, M
Guys are pretty bad with special dates, anniversaries e.t.c. But Valentine's Day is not exactly easily forgotten, and at the very least he could have bought a rose pretty much anywhere.

There's really only 2 ways to read this, he's pretty oblivious with low emotional intelligence, or it's a sign of general disinterest
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@plungesponge thank you for your honesty
RubySoo · 56-60, F
Its not bad....but how do you feel about it?
I always used to try and do something special. Id do a special meal, candles and all, make cards, but i got a card and told....its 'comercial rip off day' and he never bought me anything. It became the norm and i stopped making the effort.
Its the other way arou d these days. He buys.....i dont.
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@RubySoo exactly.

My hub bought me a coffee and said happy valentines day. I'm good.❤️
BearDownChicago · 41-45, M
Depends how long you've been in a relationship. It might be disappointing. We've gotten to the point that a nice dinner, movie, and a card is an relaxing nice valentins day
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@BearDownChicago 2yrs only
BearDownChicago · 41-45, M
@DragunFruit yeah still in the cute phase. I would let him know that you were disappointed. It's a simple gesture that counts
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
Depends. Did you tell them that you didn’t want anything, but really expected something?
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@Chevy454 he told me he'll treat me dinner. But then, my parents already prepared foods. So he asked me if I want to eat tomorrow. I said, I might not make it because I'm having a project tomorrow. Then he said "Well, that's good" end of story.
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
Oh. Gotcha. He should have done something. @DragunFruit
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@Chevy454 but he didn't 🤔
Karmalives · 51-55, M
Giving is for both of you... it all works out, I will let you think about that for a moment 😉
Karmalives · 51-55, M
@RubySoo than you must make a choice based on the outcome.
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@Karmalives yes....i know that. It breaks my heart to have to. X
Karmalives · 51-55, M
@RubySoo I Understand 🤗

If he is an awesome lover, keep him around for sex, but understand that's ALL he wants from you. And keep shopping around.
You're just better than him.
@DragunFruit Sorry. What did you get him?
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@quitwhendone pizza, cake, gifts. It's okay it's your opinion 😁
@DragunFruit No, I meant I'm sorry he didn't get you anything or do anything for you.

Wow, that's really nice of you. If he doesn't appreciate you, dump him.
Darci ·
We are in the same boat here...
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@Darci what should we do?
Darci ·
@DragunFruit I dont know. I can think it through some more I guess.
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
@Darci yes, maybe that's better

Hope he appreciated what you did. Did he show any remorse? Make up for it somehow?
midnightsun · 26-30, M
Depends.

But, unlucky you.
DragunFruit · 26-30, F
