A crush is just lust disguised as love, agree?

Pretzel · 61-69, M Best Comment
pretty much.
love takes intimacy and knowing the other person - and loving them in spite of it

For me, a crush was just admiration. If a man was particularly handsome, I would think about him a great deal, and admire his wonderful looks, but very handsome men always made me far too shy and self conscious to ever speak to them. And thus, for me...because of my shyness...a crush was never lust.

@DrWatson I am glad someone is able to understand my version of "crush". ☺️☺️☺️
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@4meAndyou @DrWatson
Me too. I still crush on people. I might think them attractive, or admire something about them, be in awe even, but a crush quite wonderful in its own right.... it would be spoiled if romance or lust entered the equation!!
Thats how it is for ne any way....
4meAndyou · F
@RubySoo You understand, too! Crushes are meant to be innocent admiration!
What's wrong with Lust? LOL
It's just fantasy.
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
No, a crush is not disguised as love. You would only get the two confused if you are 12 years old.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
No, not necessarily.
It may not be still love and become one. Or begin and end as lust.
It may be only attraction, but attraction can be built over more than one factor, includding why not also lust.
It may begin as an admirative view and sometimes, just sometimes, lead to love.

That said and for my own non negotiable criteria, partner relationships where mutual attraction, admiration, a lasting crush and so also lust are not an intrinsic part of it (from the begining to the end) are a glorified fraud.
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
Maybe there’s lust involved but it could be legitimate attraction too.
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@StevetheSleeve Is lust illegitimate? What do you mean?
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
@GlitterEater I’d say lust is more indiscriminate.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
I think equating a crush with love in any way whatsoever is just delusional and mockery.
MoonlightLullaby · 41-45, F
Crush equals lust imo
WhateverWorks · 36-40
I don’t know about that. It’s not really necessarily only lust so much as getting infatuated with the idea of what you might have with somebody before you really had a chance to see if that’s how it would play out in reality.
mksworld · 46-50, C
Isn't it called a 'crush' because it's not reciprocated? Lust is probably right if you're masturbating thinking about someone and it's a one-way feeling.
It’s a rare disease I don’t want to have.
Ew feelings! 😷
TheOthetAcc · 36-40, M
@mindstruggle sad, I thought you were crushing on me ...👀
A feeling of attraction. Maybe misguided when you find out what the person is like.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I tend to think a crush is brain chemistry, love (true) is also etheric.
Magenta · F
Mostly yes. Lust and attraction. I've never equated a "Crush" to love.
TheOthetAcc · 36-40, M
I thought it was a beverage.
SW-User
Nope
It's lust
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@SW-User I don't even like sex and I get crushes on people. I don't know in what sense you could call those crushes lust.
SW-User
@GlitterEater I suppose it comes down to ones own perspective
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I think they are separate things. A crush is more like an acknowledgement that you like what you have seen and are interested in further exploration but have not yet actually invested in it.

A crush could be either lust-seeking or love-seeking or a combination of the two. It all depends on what exactly you hope to explore in further detail.
the only time i get lust and love mixed up is after 6 or 7 shots of tequila. LOL
Gemma90 · F
Could be developed if guess
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
Crush isnt love...they are different
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Not necessarily.
Gemma90 · F
DDonde · 31-35, M
No, it's a different feeling IMO. Edit: It is 100% distinct from lust (for me anyway), even if it's not real love. There is no horny component to it.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
No. Totally different things.
