I am in one

Polyamorous, polyromantic I am, polygamous I am not.

If I ever settled with one other, I would never settle with another, with exemption to an arranged throuple.

But I would be open to flings and FWBs, as always.

I have done so in the past. And the breakup was mutual. I don't see a reason not to have another.

Monogamy today doesn't always last. So it's serial polygamy instead. There's no "MONO" in monogamy, no matter how you look at it.

The legal issues are soley religious.

The moral consideration of incest is totally forgotten in divorce. There's nothing to stop the confusion anyway in serial polygamy. Yeah you might be married to your cousin and not even know it. DNA registration most certainly isn't required. Nor wanted.

That is an excellent question. One too many couples don not ask before getting married. That requires discussion of what is in and out of bounds, and agreement. If both do not agree, then perhaps do not get married, or divorced if you already are. Otherwise,if one spouse is in favor and the other is not, cheating is likely to happen.

My wife was free to do whatever she wanted as long she was open about it. I was never with anybody but her.

Open relationship has no confusion. But marriage is a contract and if it's open can cause a lot of confusion unless the terms are clear, as there would be a breach one way or the other.
