Rereading Lord of the Rings. I hadn't read it since high school, although I've read The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and several volumes of History of Middle-Earth more recently, so I'm very familiar with Tolkien's legendarium. However, I'd forgotten much of LoTR and it's pretty great rediscovering it, plus the references to events in the First and Second Ages have a lot more relevance because I know exactly what the characters are talking about, beyond just "hmm, Morgoth, well, that's interesting." I also have the books of maps by Barbara Strachey and Karen Fonstad at hand which greatly improve the experience because they're far more detailed than Tolkien's maps at the ends of the volumes, so it's easier to tell exactly where the characters are at any given moment.
After this I plan to read Paolo Friere's Pedagogy of the Oppressed, which I never got around to reading in college the way everyone else did.

@LeopoldBloom I made it through LOTR’S twice…but I seriously struggled with The Silmarillion. That takes some dedication.

@InterdimensionalSideEye You have to get into the book's rhythm. It's written very differently from LoTR.

Alfred Hitchcock presents series. Currently I'm on The Sound Machine by Roald Dahl.
@CrazyMusicLover so many stories, so little time.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@InterdimensionalSideEye Most of them are super short though. It actually bothers me a bit because I barely manage to catch the overall mood and it's already at the end.
@CrazyMusicLover I get you

Will SpaceX shares increase in value?
SpaceX shares face near-term supply pressures and high valuations, but offer a massive long-term growth boom driven by Starship, Starlink, and AI infrastructure.

The Killer Inside Me, by Jim Thompson (1952). I've been reading Jim Thompson for several months. Rereading this. My favorite, along with Pop. 1280.
@hunkalove never heard of him to be honest. I’ll look it up

I am reading:
1. Die Häßliche Herzogin. A historical novel about Margarete von Tyrol. I love historical fiction but my German isn’t wonderful so it’s heavy going.
2, The Thursday Murder Club. Cosy crime about a group of old psychopaths who go about murdering people and blaming it on others.
3. The Lord of the Rings (again)

I love the covers of the Malazan volumes
#2

:) It's exciting!! There's many others as you know that I have to choose from. Once I finish Malazan I will be going through it all over again, and then I'll get it like a 5 yr old with ADD.

@InterdimensionalSideEye Yes. Not quite as good as Pratchett's later work but still good.

@InterdimensionalSideEye I like it. It moves relentlessly from the first chapter with a building sense of dread.
