About to finish Jon Meacham's Soul of America. About a third of the way through Third World Within--that sounds appropriate, doesn't it -- by Daniel Widener. Amor Towles' Table for Two waiting on the bedside table. A stack of baseball books as well, but that's for when the season is over in the U.S. and the game moves to the Southern Hemisphere.

Actually, I'm falling behind in my reading. Combination of dwindling stamina--I like to read in bed, and been falling asleep--and worsening cataracts that I'm going to have to take care of soon.

I'm reading Bernie Taupins autobiography Scattershot, a book of a German heart surgeon about the trouble with our German health care system and a light hearted book called Ravensdale by Kate Fielding.

Just finished Conn Iggulden's two books about Nero.

Just started the new Camoran Strike novel that was released yesterday.
Rickichickie · 61-69, F
@OldBrit what did you think of The Ink Black Heart? I really struggled through the story, it had its lenghts.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@Rickichickie that was imho the least engaging of the series so far. Too much in the chat rooms of the game etc. I thought how can this translate to the tv show? But actually now I'd probably recommend watching that over reading the book and I rarely ever think that.

@OldBrit films after books mostly disappoint. Best is if you loved a film, to read the book afterwards. It never worked for me in the opposite direction.

A few books that are work related. Nothing exciting.
peterlee · M
@EBSVC work related books are essential , I read books on autism, dyslexia, trauma, and psychology to help me. But poetry and fiction form a balance.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
Nothing. I need to find a new book though to read.
peterlee · M
@Zonuss That’s why it’s interesting finding out what others read.

Richard Davies Extreme Economies gives you a view on how places like Zaatari, Darain, or even Santiago survive.

peterlee · M
@kodiac So you love Stephen King books.
I don’t mind his novella. But find his novels a bit verbose.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@peterlee I like it because it's so far removed from everything mainstream King has done
