When going to a restaurant with someone, do you prefer to sit across from them or next to them?

Across from them normally. Unless there’s a few of us.
NerdySoph · 26-30, F
Across if it's just the two of us
Carissimi · F
Across. It’s easier to converse.
LadyGrace · 70-79
Well if it was my sweetheart, I would love to sit on the same bench with him, actually, to be closer hahaha, but if it's just a friend, then I would sit across from them. And sometimes even if it was my sweetheart, I would give him more elbow room at times and sit across from him, but I don't have a sweetheart. Sometimes I wish I did but I don't think I ever will. I've given up on that idea.

Depends on the situation and the view...

I would normally sit across from them, as more room and you can see all sides better if something interesting happens.

But also, I rather not just sit looking at a blank wall if I know.them and we're not going to be talking much

Me and my partner always sit next to eachother in public. We think it's more romantic than having a table in between us.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Baconrind They have been told the table in between is romantic and Hollywood pushes it on in every single American romantic hall movie that it's mega manipulated in to people. Who can blame them?

But yeah we are always the only couple not sitting against eachother but Next and close to eachother. I love that he can touch my thigh 😍
Baconrind · 36-40, M
@Queendragonfly It also might be to do with whether someone's love translates through touch or sight
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Baconrind I can look at my partner when we sit at the side. No problem.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
On a date across from them,I can play footsie under the table with him, hold a conversation with him.
In a restaurant with family or friends then across from them or next to them is fine either way.
itsok · 31-35, F
If there’s 2 of us, across. Next to them if there are more people in the group

Across, always across.
Couples sitting side-by-side is trashy, unless there are additional parties.
Or unless the table is round/overly big.

I think I prefer half way in-between. you know , at right angles to each other .
Then you don't have all the salt and pepper and wine glasses and stuff between you , and it's a comfortable angle to converse , intimate but not confronting.
Across, unless our table has a Bay view.
Lilnonames · F
At the bar so it be next to them
