When going to a restaurant with someone, do you prefer to sit across from them or next to them?

I think I prefer half way in-between. you know , at right angles to each other .
Then you don't have all the salt and pepper and wine glasses and stuff between you , and it's a comfortable angle to converse , intimate but not confronting.
