Maybe. I suppose it depends on the person. @SW-User
SW-User
@Carissimi true, there are those gifted with fast metabolism. when I eat with gusto, I need to take it easy the next day.

Thank you for BC. 🙏 @SW-User
Ontheroad · M
I used to eat it maybe two or three times a week, but have gone to quinoa instead, or at least mostly so. In the way back times I lived with a Japanese gal (in Japan) and every meal there was rice... every meal. It was either a side or the main meal at every meal.

That second picture - yummy!
SW-User
@Ontheroad So you gained weight in Japan...I cooked the menu on the second pic. The first pic was eaten at a Jap resto.
Ontheroad · M
@SW-User yep, I did... I finally had to start declining the rice at every darn meal! It was hard and even required I start cooking for the both of us, but that turned out as a positive... seems she liked to be pampered a bit.
SW-User
@Ontheroad good deal!
SW-User
A few times in a week. I also like quinoa.
acupaday · 46-50, F
I eat it quite often thanks to my Fijian roots. Discovered coconut jasmine rice not too long ago though and man, is it yum.
SW-User
@acupaday ...and expensive here 😂
acupaday · 46-50, F
@SW-User Well, that’s just rude of them.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
ideally once a day, i try to vary my sources of carb so I have wheat for breakfast and potatoes or quinoa for lunch or pasta on rare occasion. I make minestrone soup for my lunches this week so there is a bit of pasta in it but I usually avoid pasta.
SW-User
@reflectingmonkey why do you avoid pasta? that's my substitute for rice too.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@SW-User I have spent my life studying nutrition and mental health mostly because I have a condition , which might be hypersensitivity to hypoglycemia, and I suspect that the depression I went through during my youth was due to this. when I started controling carefully my carbohydrate consumption my depression disappeared. I suspect that the rising number of people diagnosed with depression in the last 20 years might be due to this. I have observed in me that eating sugar one day will cause that the next 2-3 days I have depression symptoms. I have observed that eating pasta as a meal, not so much when a small amount is added to soup, does the same effect as eating sugar: the next day I feel week and depressed. my interpretation of this is that pasta is a very processed type of carb and when eaten disolves very fast and enters the bloodstream too fast and causes a sudden jolt in blood glucose levels. also, because of this fast absoption, I find pasta, contrary to other carbs, has a similar addictive quality to it where is feel awesome when you eat it but , soon after, you want more, causing a type of cycle of consuming and wanting more similar to such drugs as cocaine or cigarettes.
SW-User
@reflectingmonkey hmmm...interesting. thanks for the info. I'm a pasta fan though...yeah, sometimes I feel depressed but when I start to cry, I try to gear towards positive thoughts and battle with my mind. points taken, enlightening.
Only a couple of times a week now (usually brown rice). Those dishes do look good. 😊
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard you must be slim....

@nevergiveup looks yummy, what's on the side?
@SW-User Cod in bread crumbs
SW-User
@nevergiveup not familiar with cod, tried to research 🤭...leaner than salmon.
2-3 times a week. Different kinds, Jasmine, Basmati, Japanese, fried...
@SW-User and Vietnamese broken rice 😋
SW-User
@Ghostinthemachine Oh, haven't tried that yet. I'll check it at my local supermarket. 😊
@SW-User I'm not sure where to get it, tbh, but our local Pho restaurant makes it, for a slight uncharge

Until then, I had never heard of or tasted it before
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Frequently. Short grain brown rice. With veggies and beans.
SW-User
@hunkalove I tried brown rice but it's kinda rough on my palate.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@SW-User Cook it longer? I do it for 45 minutes.
SW-User
@hunkalove My sister-in-law cooked. She likes brown rice.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I don't, have diabetes and it's a food I will eat too much of.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@Justmeraeagain What about brown rice?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@hunkaloveI don't like it really to be honest.
I live the white fluffy stuff.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@Justmeraeagain I eat a lot of short grain brown rice. I think it depends on what you put in with it. I make great vegetarian Spanish rice!
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
I add leftover rice to my scrambled omelette. Delish
SW-User
@LunarOrbit delicious!
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@SW-User IKR. I thought I was weird
Not more then once.
@SW-User substitute it with something which has dietary fibre. I don't know where you are from so can't suggest you properly.
SW-User
@littlepuppywantanewlife when I eat too much rice, I skip the next day. replace it with bread or noodles
@SW-User that's better. I usually eat home cooked wheat bread. And if rice then only one time a day or sometimes I skip it for couple of days.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
Usually once a day, I don’t want to clean the pan after so I rarely make rice, but did to have with pulled pork.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F

SW-User

SW-User
@SW-User good...sometimes I crave for another serving but the next day, I try not to eat at all.
SW-User
@SW-User I don't eat it very often ...it's not great for me
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Rarely. Too much arsenic and plastic in it.
SW-User
@Thevy29 I know, read that too.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
