Could America end up as a failed state?

I don't care for Trump at all or the R party! I am afraid that if the R party does not get in,SC or NC or both will attempt to secede from the Union and start a Civil War which would be very destructive to this country. I know it sounds crazy,but I know how insane the State Governments of these two States are and a high percentage of the people in them are R party and assume that everyone but a handful of others is R party also. They are used to getting their way whatever it takes and have a false view of the rest of the country,world,and even much of the population living in SC/NC.

America is pretty much over. Fifty years from now, it will be remembered as the worst thing that ever happened to this pitiful and broken planet. Greed is not a good thing on which to base an entire civilization.

i don't know why people blame Obama. i blame the rep and demo who refused to pass any bills as long as count blackula was in office. and i doubt that will change as now that they have a real taste of how easy it is to do nothing and waste tax payer money. and i think it will continue irregardless of who the next president is. America is a failed state in my eyes. When American voters choose two presidential candidates with the most inconsistent politics over candidates that actually have a plan and don't just tell people what they want to hear, there's something seriously wrong there. America is indeed an absolute failure of a nation, this current ongoing presidential election has really shown this country's true colors.

@icyrebel never before have we had a legislative branch so unwilling to work together on anything. as for Obama's :expensive" programs. the president has o power to enact programs. that is the legislative branch. if i might suggest do some real research instead of just believing what pablum the biased media is feeding you with the story of the day. kep an ope mind and study where the problem's lie. it isn't with the president. at least not now. our financial issues stem directly from the legislative branch allowing us to fall over the debt ceiling cliff. and everything that is happening was predicted when that occurred.

A failed state? Not even close.
That said, the mere fact that someone like Trump is actually supported by way too many Americans doesn't bode well for our future.

Won't go as far as that... But if Trump becomes the President it will definitely go southwards.

No it won't become a failed state but it will fall on bad times probably in your lifetime. Just think about what it was like in the depression and you will have a good idea. We were much more self reliant back then and our not being that way is going to hit us really hard. It will also impact the rest of the world economies. You should start getting ready now, if it does not happen you will still be better off.

Nit picking definitions is a little off topic, I think every one knows what the OP meant, but I don't know where people get the idea that America is not a state it certainly is.

Websters: a politically organized body of people usually occupying a definite territory; especially : one that is sovereign.

There will never be one world government because people can't get along enough for that. But there will come a time where our influence is dramatically reduced and people shy away from parking their money in the US because we are so in debt. When that happens it will be very ugly. There won't be anarchy either, power abhors a vacuum.

Really Big asset if someone that's promising to spend mobey on everyone gets in it will be fine. But if the person that wants to finally get fair trade going on by fixing our huge tariff deficit. Creating lots of jobs and doing a lot for our economy. Then the country will go South, makes no sense.

Patti I think that the greed of the power elite is the same thing that will keep them from cooperating with the other power elites of the rest of the world, they don't want to share. Besides there will be too many idle violent Americans with guns.
