No it won't become a failed state but it will fall on bad times probably in your lifetime. Just think about what it was like in the depression and you will have a good idea. We were much more self reliant back then and our not being that way is going to hit us really hard. It will also impact the rest of the world economies. You should start getting ready now, if it does not happen you will still be better off.
