If making mashed potatoes do you use water or milk?

i usually make instant potatoes with water and milk, butter and sour cream and salt and pepper

If it’s for my family I boil the potatoes in chicken broth then add heavy cream and butter and salt and pepper

If it’s for me I boil in vegetable broth then add plant based butter and salt and pepper

Always milk or they don't taste right.

I've never made mashed potatoes in my entire life. On the rare occasion I eat a potato I bake it and put some salsa on it and eat the whole thing, including the skin.

Milk, butter and salt if not adding anything to it but If it's a base for bubble and squeak or if I'm adding other veg and cheese to it, I use a bit of vegetable stock.
