Would you move to a sketchy area to save money on rent?

Considering they're raising rent where I currently am I am seriously considering it. I can rent an apartment in a house for under $1,000 a month and I'd get two bedrooms instead of 1 and a kitchen bathroom and living room. That's more space than I get now for much less money.

No. I’m having extreme difficulty finding a place and pretty much the worst area of my county is the only area that has a lot of places for rent. There’s no way I’m putting my kids in that area or school district.

@MellyMel22

M M, I’m in Queens. I know a zillion property owners - maybe they could be a fit. What is your situation?
MellyMel22 · F
@Thrust I’m not in the Bronx anymore. My son is connected with football recruiters, so I’m trying to keep him in his current school. He’s starting quarterback and has skill that’s rare for his age.

Thank you so much though! 🤍
I've lived on skid row, yep... but only for a few months.

If I was a man, I might. Keeping your finances down to a reasonable level is VERY important. Invest in a good security system.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Yep. That's what I did
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@caPnAhab How's it working out?
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@separatetheheart pretty well. I'm not too bothered by it

@OogieBoogie How's it working out?

@OogieBoogie That sucks but if that's the worst thing I consider that not half bad. Heck break ins can happen anywhere. A decade or so ago someone broke into my old car and stole my loose change and cigarettes.
As a woman, no.
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@MsSwan That's understandable
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
I do currently.
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@HowtoDestroyAngels How is it going?
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
@separatetheheart pretty good. No complaints.
Bklynbadboy12 · 36-40, M
Nope I'd just get a second job
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@Bklynbadboy12 I've done the two job thing in the past. Unfortunately my health tanks fast and I end up having to drop one after a few months. My health has been laughable past few months.

@SwampFlower Happy to hear it worked out fine.
YoMomma ·
@separatetheheart no i mean the sketchy place. what about buying a house? sometimes that's less expensive than rent
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@YoMomma I thought about that but the repairs would kill me and the property taxes too.
YoMomma ·
@separatetheheart oh i see yeah taxes are high some places
IronHamster · 56-60, M
My OpSec is pretty tight. So, it depends, but probably.
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
yeah, you do what you think you gotta do and deal with the consequences
Selah ·
No id just make more money. Are you sketchy person if you move to a sketchy neighborhood?
separatetheheart · 31-35, M
@Selah no it doesn't make you a sketchy person
It really depends on city
Musicman · 61-69, M
Personally I would not, but sometimes life dictates and we don't have a choice.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
personally i'll trade a bit of money for not having to deal with thugs
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@separatetheheart not in mine 😋
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@separatetheheart live close to a popular university, it tends to be cluttered with educated people in the living spaces around it
@separatetheheart There are many, many neighborhoods without thugs. Please know this.
