If you were in charge of people or training how would you correct people's mistakes?

Directly this is what happened don't do it again
Use humor to lighten the mood maybe
Have them "guess" what they did
Tell them what was wrong but also leave with something positive
If you do it again you're out of here

some of my people under me are millennials so i have to pamper them as if they are babies. bit of a shame actually. but i've learned to deal with it as my boss has too... my most recent experience with one of them was saying to them..."when i was your age i was doing such and such"... now their rebuttal is "i'll just ask you what the answer is or what to do" guess what? i don't help them any more

Depends on the point of training. Starts with walking them through step by step, progresses to asking them what went wrong on why. Might be some yelling when I figure they know it by now. Eventually leads to just shaking my head and walking away.

I usually try to find common things to establish rapport. Make them feel comfortable and relaxed. I joke around and celebrate any and every little progress.
Then slowly I ratchet up the pressure till they question if coming here was a good decision.

I believe that you should never make the same mistake twice. I find executions the most reliable way to ensure that doesn't happen.
