@MrGomco How to manage up; manage your superiors. Very valuable in a corporate career. Actually I learned many things in the army. As a draftee just having lost his student deferment on graduation and with two years of ROTC training (only to be told my eyesight was too poor to be an officer telling others where to shoot, but good enough to aim and fire the gun), I considered it a graduate school education in real world dynamics. It was a unique time when college graduate draftees had more in common with junior officers, and senior officers/NCOs were just trying to complete their 20 years after WWII and being recalled for Korea. When racial and social integration was actually being required in the barracks while Civil Rights was dividing the civilians.

@Elizabeth28 Repairing things is the most interesting thing there can be, my aunt bought a brand new hair dryer about thirty years ago, it never worked, it has a trigger like a pistol, I had never seen anything like it, the connector has an adapter with buttons, it is one of the strangest thing I have seen, when I go to visit it maybe I posted a photo, maybe you have some idea how to fix it, I don't understand what happens with that device, it still looks like new.

@MrGomco I like to say I'm pretty good with numbers. They're fun and amusing to me. When I was 64 I liked to say "it's a square, it's a cube, it's a Beatles' song!!"

Sometimes I forget words and have trouble digging them up. And I found that I can form a numerical association between the beginning letters of the word and some numbers. Somehow it's easier for me to remember the numbers and then access the word.

For example, if I had trouble with "calibrate" I would remember 3-1-12 for "cal." But that's not a calculation thing, its an association and access thing.

@ElwoodBlues really really interesting, when I think about numbers I imagine a number line in third-dimensional outer space near the planets, especially Saturn.

@MrGomco Cool. I do that too when I think of the continuous real number line, I think of it kind of like that. When I think of factors I think of like a times table and the different columns like musical scales. And powers of numbers are kind of like scales too.

My parents were just over protective and they thought that as a little girl, I'd be riding a bike outdoors on my own and they were scared for my safety. Later as an adult I tried but I fell real hard the first day I tried and that put me off riding bikes lol
