@MrGomco so we were driving along a trail in the Ouachita forest. Was late afternoon and started to rain. We were coming down a steep hill and the trail was covered in pine needles and we slid. Lost control and hit head on into a tree at about a 45degree angle. We were stuck. Stayed at the vehicle for about an hour but it started getting dark. Had zero cell signal. So we decided to walk. We were wayyyyyy out there. My boys played Man vs Wild lol - they left a trail so we could find our way back if needed but it started raining super hard. Anywho we walked for probably 12 hours (overnight) before one of my boys climbed a tree to see if we could get a signal. My phone was running out of juice but we were finally able to dial 911. Unfortunately we were in the middle of a national forest and I couldn’t tell them where and my phone was dying. So they assured us they were sending help. We kinda walked back towards where we thought we came from originally and just kept walking. The boys were starving but were really awesome troopers- talking about how they couldn’t wait to tell their friends and teachers. Lol
We were able to reach 911 only one other time over the next 24 hours and eventually the phone died. It was kinda terrifying.
Long dramatic story short - we were found by men in pickup trucks…search and rescue party. They took us into town and to a motel where people came from all over with dry clothes and food. We slept a bit while rescuers/tow people went looking for our vehicle. It took 4 different tow trucks to pull up the Tahoe due to the incline where we got stuck. They say it was a miracle we weren’t killed.
