Why do people walk through the city with Primark bags? Why aren't they embarrassed?

I would never judge someone for being poor because its only based on luck but if you are so unfortunate you have to shop in Primark, why don't you use another bag to carry your clothes home? Then no one will know you shop in Primark
ArtieKat · M
I remember when Kate Moss - the multi-millionaire supermodel! - began to shop at Primark, contributing to their huge success. I've had some of my Primark clothes for years - it's a myth that the quality is any worse than other high street chains.
ArtieKat · M
@IndigoSavage You and your friends are in a very small minority, in my opinion.
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@ArtieKat Well sure there were only 3 of us and like 200 people waiting in line to buy shoddy clothes
ArtieKat · M
@IndigoSavage
shoddy clothes
If you've never owned any, I wonder what parameters you are using to judge? As I said earlier, I've never had any issues with the quality of their goods. What a sad little life you must lead to post jibes about the carrier bags other people carry. Are you and your mates those sort of frauds who goes into Harrods to buy the cheapest items just so you can be seen with the iconic bags?
TheGoodGuy · M
I've never looked down on anyone carrying a Primark bag, it's never even occurred to me.
Adstar · 56-60, M
Actually you are judging them for being poor..
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@Adstar no not for being poor, just for not hiding the fact they shop in Primark
Nanori · F
@IndigoSavage why would they care?
@IndigoSavage why should they hide it? why does it matter where anyone shops? maybe thats the closest place they can shop at and since they are poor they dont want to have to go further. i dont understand why this bothers you at all
BalmyNites · F
Because that’s just pure snobbery - rock those Primark bags, loud & proud! 😁
SW-User
What's the big deal anyway?
Own who you are.
BalmyNites · F
@SW-User I’m so proud of ya! 😁🤗😘
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
Well I hope I've given you something to think about@SW-User @SW-User
SW-User
@IndigoSavage nah I don't have such snobbishness. I am not poor either or have any complex of appearing poor. I'm content with who I am without needing the approval of strangers on the street.
SW-User
who cares what bag they have?
SW-User
I question why someone would judge a person for the carrier bag they’re using more than I would ever judge a person for the shops they choose to get their clothes
SW-User
People should shop wherever they feel they are getting the best value for their money.
There is no shame in being cost conscious or frugal.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
There's nothing wrong with shopping at Primark or Walmart or Dollar General or wherever. It's no one else's business. If they look down on someone because they shop at a particular store, that says more about them than the shopper.
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
You seem very annoying
Primark is a disgusting place to shop in especially when it's well known they held all of their employees locked in their factories to prevent them from participating in the Myanmar protests. Most fast fashion places are as gross as the gum in my shoe ,so yeah it is embarassing when people shop from primark Zara h&m urban outfitters etc. I rather watch them walk out of thrift shops

I once shopped at a small store in Lansing, Michigan, that sold extremely cheap handbags, which were designer knockoffs. They've gone out of business since, because it is not legal to sell designer knockoffs in the USA. But the bags were attractive, (one of them was gorgeous!), the prices were the same as normal retailers charge for bags, and they were marked Gucci, Prada, and Coach. I probably bought 6 bags there.

I used the bags for years, but one thing I noticed early on, was that of all my acquaintances at the time, only the most shallow of them were impressed by the labels on my bags. One man even spread the rumor that I was wealthy, and began to be interested in me...oops! I mean, interested in the fictitious money he imagined I had. 🤣🤣🤣

It became a source of amusement for me. "Oooo!!! I LOVE your bag!", became my Shallow Hal signal...and I would have a quiet little laugh.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
I hope that you never have to shop in Primark. It would be so humiliating to you.
IndigoSavage · 22-25, F
@SweetMae I would try to do it online
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@IndigoSavage There is no shame in being poor. I have worn outfits from Goodwill and I was thankful to have them.
Carazaa · F
@SweetMae I have lots of money but I choose to spend it on others rather than on myself. Narcicistic selfish people care to show off where they shop. And I bet most have a shopping addiction too.
CastorTroy · 31-35, M
My GF has one of those green Harrods bags she sometimes takes out but has never stepped foot in Harrods. Closet snob.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@CastorTroy lol A Wanna be snob 🤭
but it sounds like a judgement-call after all...lol!

and talking about luck in that context might be a tad...patronizing???

Nobody else is that "outed" ...they always say its the person's fault and the truth is maybe its a strange mix of ...shall we say... BOTH???

Just like the other person's "good" "luck". Its never JUST that.
Seriously? Wow .... who gives a fuck !
Carazaa · F
I could care less what people think why are you concern about peoples opinion? Personally I like to have money to give away to missions and to the poor rather than shop for myself. I would be ashamed to drive a luxury car or wear an expensive watch as a Christian.
SW-User
Rah this is hilarious
You might have trouble believing how much I don't care.
Don't be such a snob. There are many people who cannot afford to buy clothes from other stores.

@Stereoguy no...I think its a BAG after all, people who get bothered by that will always be bothered by inequality in wealth, makes them nervous.
