not with a young, much-anticipated KIng-In-Waiting in the wings. by all appearances, he and his family are groomed and willing and there's no apparent advantage to ending it. at least according to what i've read, the institution makes far more monies than it spends

As a distant cousin of King Charles, I doubt if it will disappear, but I think the role of the king will change during his reign and change even more under King William. That's the opinion of an American whose last English ancestor left the home country 300 years aggo.
