Why CIA did not set a plot

to Assassinate Putin ?

What will happen if they succeed assassinating Putin
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
no its generally a very very bad idea for countries to go around knocking off each others heads of state especially if there is no "official" state of war between them.
If Ukraine were to send a hit team to attempt to kill him,or destroy them Kremlin somehow then that would be acceptable. Its mano e mano in that sense.
dubum · 51-55, M
@wonkywinky But they tried this to Fidel Castro ?

https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/fidel-castros-death/fidel-castro-cia-s-7-most-bizarre-assassination-attempts-n688951

Was there official state of War between Cuba and USA ?
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
@dubum Castro was a leader in a different time. The Bay of Pigs was exactly why its not a good idea to try half assed ideas to remove leaders.

Russia will eventually take care of Putin itself.
Elessar · 26-30, M
There are no guarantees that the successor won't be worse, and last thing you want is to give them a martyr to legitimate their invasion with

It's the Russian people who need to take Putin down, or you'll only breed resentment and desire for vindication
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
Kill all of them at once. Ten nukes would be a good start.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@smiler2012 Sure it is. Imagine if America had destroyed Russia after WWII. We would have saved $Trillions in defense spending and avoided numerous other wars. So, if we get in a major fight again the program should consist of blasting everyone who might even be a future potential enemy. Then we can live in peace and harmony.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Diotrephes 🤷‍♂️ so you are advocating mass genocide are you to exterminate millions of innocent russians
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@smiler2012 No one is innocent in war. Read about all of the genocides the Jews did in the Bible against other people. The God character approved.

Here's a thought - "better the devil you know than the one you don't know"

He's a known quantity. If you cut off the head of a snake, then the snake dies.

Doesn't work with the leader of a nation. There will be confusion and a power struggle (unless there is a law to define the succession of a deceased leader) and then the next oligarch comes to power.

And then there's that pesky retaliation.
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
Like all previous psychotic dictators,9 times out of 10,it will be their own people or previous allies that bring him down.
Mussolini,Idi Amin,Gaddaffi,Czar Nikolai II,Nicolai Ceaucescu, and countless others throughout history, that were "removed" from office by the people.
Somewhere in Russia there is a 9th floor window awaiting Putin.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@dubum] 😆i just worked out an anagram of your user name is dumb u and your suggestion rather matches it no offence meant by the way ,what do you think the russians reaction would be if they uncovered a plan to attempt to assassinate putin by an outside world power .as if east -west relations are not bad enough at this present time . besides i think it would be a futile exercise in a sense as i am sure if any assassination on putin worked one of his cronies would take over and this would just carry on in russia as they always have under putins regime
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
Dictators like Putin always dig themselves into deep holes,by lying and perverting justice,to the point where any truth emerges they are finished.
Putin on the one hand is telling Russia how little costs there are,how Russia is defeating the Nazis, but one day,Russia might see Ukrainian troops attcking over the border, and people will ask"Vladimirovitch,if we are winning this operation,WHY are Ukrainian troops in my village? Why have i not heard from my son/husband for 6 months?"
hunkalove · 61-69, M
The boys on top don't kill each other. Everyone else can die but not them.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@hunkalove they are the chess masters not the pawns :)
Ynotisay · M
If it happened and was pinned on the U.S. I think it would result in a really bad outcome. That said, no matter who did it I imagine it would be pinned on the U.S.. I'm just amazed someone internally hasn't put a bullet in his head. My personal belief, with nothing to go on other than belief, is that it will happen eventually.
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
Even in WW2 the allies never really tried to kill Hitler, like maybe bombing his HQ.They did have a kind of "suicide plan" in which a sniper team would try to pick him off in the area of the Berghof, but they realised HE was an asset with his own brand of stupid generalship.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
CIA only performs well in the movies
ATripToNowhere · 46-50, M
How is Joe Bin Laden doing? The fucking bastard is rumored to be disposed of by Russian secret agents...
Ynotisay · M
@ATripToNowhere 46-50? Ouch.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Yet the CIA wants to take out Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, etc.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@zonavar68 Those people don't have nuclear weapons or the backing of a powerful nation state. They are both easy targets and attacking them is not likely to cause extreme retaliation.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@ninalanyon Julian Assange's Wikileaks published large amounts of leaked classified materials exposing the USA's sham approach to conduct during times of war, among other things. And that's a highly commendable thing to have done.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
You can say goodbye to internation tourism and trade and quite possibly several major cities.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
pootin has a double floating around to take the bullet, or the bomb.
msros · F
He is not in their crosshairs, I guess.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
There will be a Huge Outbreak in eastern Ukraine.
tenente · 100+, M
good news: cia doesn't have to. Putin's either going to be ousted or succumb to complications related to Parkinson's.
bad news, with or without CIA help: many innocent civilians will die as civil war breaks out across eastern Europe, in a bid to commandeer whatever resources are left in the headless Russia.
Putin kept the military impotent to avoid a coupe, and, surrounded himself with shiftless sycophant's incapable of leading ants in a sugar factory - no successor and no future for Russia
Spotpot · 41-45, M
@tenente This is the sad truth.
