Racist Roads?

The Biden Administration Goes Woke In Transportation, Making Road Development Anti-Racist

Under the leadership of U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the Biden administration launched a $1 billion project to fix America’s racist infrastructure system, making our roadways the next frontier of woke politics.

Meanwhile, the country continues to suffer from supply chain issues totally ignored by the Biden Administration. They've abandoned the American people once again

@Stereoguy You Betcha! You really zeroed in on the meat of the matter IMO
@Stereoguy Everything that's happening is very weird to watch in real time.
Like being stuck in a canoe in the middle of a big river, and you know there's a waterfall somewhere ahead...
@Stereoguy God forbid someone utters the phrase, “ black top”! They’d have a fucking field day screaming it’s racist. Fuck these ass holes.

This guy (Buttigieg) is almost the least qualified public servant ever. But then you look at the energy czar and a few others and you realize this administration never picked a single person based on qualifications to perform the assigned duty. Not a single one.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@PatKirby Agreed. Color, gender, sexual preference all more important than skill. That’s because these people have never actually built anything tangible or met payroll .
PatKirby · M
@carpediem
They haven't built anything worthwhile that lasted or met payroll because when, like a business, you don't hire for skills your organization eventually fails for lack of it just to keep the lights on. Much less pay the bills.

No wonder they're confused as to why their 'efforts' don't work and are not producing a smooth ride. It's like insolent kids, who have no license or skills to drive, snag the car keys from their parents, steal a joyride down the highway and wonder why the ride is so bumpy...

Democrat Steering Government
@carpediem Biden was told who to pick. Him “ nominating” anyone is bullshit. That includes the latest Supreme Court justice. They’re fucked if another case comes up involving “ gender”.

when I need to create a password for a new account for anything now I am enjoying using Biden’s name in it and describing what an @$$h*le he is. Easier to remember that way.

@cherokeepatti
A very smart and creative method indeed. I'll use it for harder passwords with many characters like BidenCanKissMyGritsIn2024+.

This made my day! 😂
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@PatKirby Haha but the ones I think of are worse than that…I hated thinking of new passwords till I started doing this.

If clueless Whitey Booty Judge ever bothered to SPEAK to the people supposedly affected by those roadways, he would discover that some of them don't WANT them to be changed. In one instance, the neighborhood used the overpass for shelter from sun and rain, and held their BBQ's and parties underneath.

In many areas the freeway system was routed through traditional black neighborhoods. Some say it was because exercising eminent domain to condemn the neighborhoods was cheaper because the black areas were less expensive so it cost the government less when they bought them out. Others believed it was with the intent of moving blacks out. In any event the effect was to divide or eliminate black areas.

Detroit's "Black Bottom" had a major intersection built in the middle of the business and restaurant area, removed a thriving source of employment, entertainment and left the residential section divided with no easy way to cross over the massive 8 lane each way freeway intersection.

While I am all for the government being frugal when embarking on new projects it isn't a bad idea to keep in mind the "unintended consequences" of what they do.

I like to believe the destruction of Detroit's Black Bottom was an unintentional by product of the government trying to get the most for its dollar.....but I'm white and it wasn't my home, neighborhood and traditions that were destroyed.

There has to be a balance. Being sensitive to our past when starting new projects isn't a bad thing. Waving the racist flag doesn't seem like a good idea either. When we know better we do better....or at least we should.

They actually have reasoning behind the plans.
They say that Interstates hurt black people when built in the 50's and 60's.
Interstate highways killed zillions of business' - it was sad.
But, I don't think it was racist. Maybe some black communities were hurt by it too.

Just quit with the racist crap.

And, saving the Largest Ball Of Twine exhibit on a now remote highway - well it's too late.
“ under the leadership of Buttigieg”? He’s no leader nor does he possess such capabilities. He proved that when instead of dealing with a backlog at out ports he was he was too busy to return to his “ leadership” role as secretary of transportation because he was on “paternity” leave. His spouse couldn’t have cared for the kid?
carpediem · 61-69, M
@soar2newhighs Maybe at least after a week or two. But no. It’s only a way to get a paycheck. Screw the ports and screw the public.

Racist Infrastructure? What are these people smoking? 🤦‍♀️ I truly can hardly stand this lunacy anymore. I’ve reached my tolerance level for listening to the insane.
Play that racist card “ bullshit”. That’s what many Democrats are all about. It’s known as pandering.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
I guess theyll have to use whitetop insted of blacktop🤷‍♂️

@MalteseFalconPunch
Maybe it was racist, maybe it wasn’t. But who cares as long as the infrastructure gets built to help undo the damage? Why does it matter as long as they get their roads? Isn’t that what’s really important?
Pete made a point of making it about race - not about balancing access.
He NEEDS to make it about race.

If the left did stuff cuz it needed to be done - WOW - that would be great.
Sort of like MAGA!
So, It will never happen.
The left hates America.

Well I like infrastructure so I don’t really care about any of that.

Infrastructure is cool.
Democrat Marxists love to make promises to provide it / repair it.
Not so good at actually doing anything though.

Obama promised Flint Michigan relief from poisonous water .
Flint's struggle with both the repercussions of the initial incident and with getting clean water have not ended. The court cases continue to unfold. The Obama administration's failure in Flint has become the nightmare of thousands of unsuspecting citizens. President Obama signed the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act. When Obama signed the act, he earmarked $174 million for Flint. Some of the money actually was spent on the water problem. A lot of money was distributed to democrat politicians. $626 million was awarded to residents to shut them up.

Officials removed a bust of Lincoln from a Cornell University library exhibit after somebody complained that Lincoln was a racist. It wasn’t just the bust. They removed the plaque with the words of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, too. In its place stands an empty display and a plain white wall.

Dumbest thing I ever heard, what a waste of time and money as usual.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
Instead of addressing the needs of a bad economy, soaring inflation or out of control gas prices, this administration is more concerned about eradicating and destroying our history all in the name of racism.
I believed the rhetoric about Robert Moses back in the day. The claim was he intentionally built overpasses on the Southern and Northern State Parkways in Long Island with a low clearance so buses (ridden by lower income people) would not have access to the State Parks. I later realized this is absolute BS through simple logic: Buses and trucks are not permitted on Parkways ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY! They were designed that way to keep commercial traffic from slowing down the flow of passenger vehicles. It is a matter of fact that buses had access to those parks since they were first opened. 🙄
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
I read that in the news and I could hardly believe my eyes! How much more ridiculous can they get????
