Musk's concept of "free speech absolutism" does not include journalists
Twitter on Thursday suspended the accounts of journalists who cover the social media platform and its new owner Elon Musk, among them reporters working for The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, Voice of America and other publications.

The company hasn’t explained to the journalists why it took down the accounts and made their profiles and past tweets disappear. But Musk took to Twitter on Thursday night to accuse journalists of sharing private information about his whereabouts that he described as “basically assassination coordinates.” He provided no evidence for that claim.
What's this?

Since when did "free speech" imply that you had to provide a "reason" or a "justification" or a "rationale" for your speech or publication??

Regardless, the kid is just collating free publicly available flight information. It's already in the public domain.

Admit it - Musk ADORES censorship - he just wants to be in charge of the censorship!! That's why he declared "Comedy is now legal on Twitter" and then blocked the following joke:

He provided no evidence because there is none. And safe to say that there's FAR better platforms for "assassination coordinates." Mr. Free Speech has just opened the gates. Real journalists are going to fight back. It'll be open season on acquiring facts that prove he's a manipulative con man. Good move Musk.

this is NO surprise from a guy who has not invented ANYTHING but claims to have done so

I love me some Elon. ❤️

@Punxi We're discussing his intelligence, not how he spends "his" money (I may even argue on the fact that tax evaders' money isn't really their money, a significant part of which is stolen, and stolen possession isn't property of the thief under any jurisdiction I can think of).

Someone who burns money, no matter if their own or others', in an investment that turns out to be a hole in the water, saying one thing and then contradicting that very thing the next day, every single day, is a pretty good indicator of lack of intelligence in my book

@bijouxbroussard
Currently I don’t understand why he bought Twitter.
All-in with MAGA, that's why. Think of the trolls you see regularly on here and imagine if they had 44B with the same brainpower. They'd buy Twitter to turn it into Truth social just the same.

From a strategic/objective/cold perspective this acquisition makes no sense. It's a major loss from any side you look at it - profit wise, reputation wise and influence wise.

@Elessar okay
What a hypocrite. Musk has the nerve to let a few conservatives back on Twitter. So, in order to teach Elon an important lesson, they doxxed him, stalked and threatened his son. What did he expect?

The stress from the massive losses Elon is experiencing have made him unstable.

I'm afraid that I don't understand what his end game is, or is that just me? Or, and this will incite everyone, is "free speech" only an issue when the "correct" political party is being censored? It raises some questions, and yes, I do want to know if there's any substance to the theory that the FBI was giving edicts to Twitter, because then it might be a first amendment issue after all. None of this would really surprise me, just depress me more.
