Musk's concept of "free speech absolutism" does not include journalists
Twitter on Thursday suspended the accounts of journalists who cover the social media platform and its new owner Elon Musk, among them reporters working for The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, Voice of America and other publications.

The company hasn’t explained to the journalists why it took down the accounts and made their profiles and past tweets disappear. But Musk took to Twitter on Thursday night to accuse journalists of sharing private information about his whereabouts that he described as “basically assassination coordinates.” He provided no evidence for that claim.
@Punxi Not really ?

@bijouxbroussard I just find him, upon the surface to be an extraordinary intelligent human being. Few can argue that. His political views and the rest remain his personal choice and far from any business of mine. His brain is sexy to me. Nothing more. 🤷‍♀️

@bijouxbroussard I take it you're not a fan of his? 🤔

Is this for real? The guy who spent $44B to buy a company that, if survives, will be worth less than half of that when he could've bought Parker for less than $1M?

If that guy is synonym of intelligence this world is more f*cked than I previously thought

@Elessar What he does with his money his his business. I'm not here to argue.
@Punxi Alas, no. He is intelligent, although he’s also had the advantage of vast wealth to help nurture it. I don’t hold that against him, but there are other issues.
Currently I don’t understand why he bought Twitter.
If the end game was "freer" speech, why is he suspending the accounts of people critical of him ?
What was the rhetoric about welcoming his critics ?
It seems that he’s actually welcoming back those on the right who were previously banned for hate speech or deliberate misinformation.
I do sometimes judge people based on their politics, especially if they appear to support hatred. I have difficulty separating that from their other achievements. 🙁

@Punxi We're discussing his intelligence, not how he spends "his" money (I may even argue on the fact that tax evaders' money isn't really their money, a significant part of which is stolen, and stolen possession isn't property of the thief under any jurisdiction I can think of).

Someone who burns money, no matter if their own or others', in an investment that turns out to be a hole in the water, saying one thing and then contradicting that very thing the next day, every single day, is a pretty good indicator of lack of intelligence in my book

All-in with MAGA, that's why. Think of the trolls you see regularly on here and imagine if they had 44B with the same brainpower. They'd buy Twitter to turn it into Truth social just the same.

From a strategic/objective/cold perspective this acquisition makes no sense. It's a major loss from any side you look at it - profit wise, reputation wise and influence wise.

@Elessar okay
