The full transcript and footage, available on C-Span's website, show that Trump was actually describing the situation for Iranians themselves, he was speaking about individuals reportedly offered the role of supreme leader but declining it out of fear of being killed either by their own people or by the United States. At no point does Trump claim he personally received an offer for Iran’s top leadership position.
