How much is Trump's visit to Scotland costing?

And who is paying?

I get that all those police officers have to be deployed to protect the women and children of Scotland, but wouldn't it be cheaper if Trump just stayed at home?

He should at least be paying the tourist tax if this is a 'private' visit and only get the same security as Harry is going to get when he pops over to see the family. Of course if the US security services want to top that up, let them pay for it.
Way much more than is worth…

The U.S. taxpayers (including those of us who voted against the man)

I imagine the Scots wish he’d kept his behind at home, too

Stunning amount Trump’s Scotland trip will cost taxpayers – largely to promote his golf courses there: report

Trump’s ‘working trip’ to the U.K. is estimated to cost almost $10 million, and the taxpayer will likely foot most of the bill.

By James Liddell/The Independent
Friday 25 July 2025

After an estimated 43 golf trips in the first six months of his second term, Trump’s Scottish visit for the opening of a new course, being billed as “the greatest 36 holes” in the sport, is expected to cost about $9.7 million, according to an analysis by HuffPost.

Those estimates are based on a Government Accountability Office report detailing the costs of Trump’s 2017 trips to his country club in Palm Beach, Florida. Costs were not adjusted for inflation, meaning they could be substantially higher in today’s terms.

Designated by the White House as a “work trip,” Trump is expected to visit his Turnberry and Menie golf courses, as well as open the new MacLeod Course at Trump International Golf Links near Aberdeen, dedicated to his mother.

@JSul3 'work trip' 🤣
Matt85 · 36-40, M
he should just do a zoom meeting
@Matt85 Wouldn’t stroke his ego enough. 😓

Far to much🙂
Seeing as how Trump just ensured trillions of euros will flow into the US, I'd say Europe is paying for the round of golf and it was more than worth it. 🤣

Enjoy your tea with a side of TDS

An estimated £5m to the Scottish government for additional policing. Plus goodness knows what else the American taxpayer is forking out.

Trump likes spending other peoples' money.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SpudMuffin He claims the late Sean Connery helped him gain planning permission for his golf course. Connery was a great Scottish patriot who unfortunately had to live for most of the year in the Bahamas for tax reasons. He knew a thing or two about getting other people to pay for his lifestyle too.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl oh yes, Sean loved everything about Scotland, apart from living there.

@SunshineGirl So true. Of course he played golf again at the American taxpayer expense.

@carpediem Trump did all that, did he? And did he tell you that?

It costs us too much to pamper the orange baby, why should we pay for his protection?

I'm not going to resort to childish name-calling, that seems to be something only Trumpists do these days.

At least he doesn't soil himself like Biden did. Just be grateful they don't have to have extra people to clean him up and change him. Lol!!! 🤣🤣🤣
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@Musicman that's sad.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@SpudMuffin Not at all. He is actually cognitive enough to wipe himself. He doesn't require a staff of caregivers to take care of himself like Biden did. If you want to feel sad for someone then feel sad for those caregivers who lost their jobs when Biden left the White House.
SpudMuffin · 61-69, M
@Musicman I feel sorry for all ordinary americans, they're the ones who are going to ultimately pay the price for Trump's presidency.

@Dino11 if you think Trump is worthy of your respect, what does that say about you?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@SpudMuffin Far more intellegent than you, for one
