Was trump a part of the us government?

While the right cries about twitter and facebook blocking free speech, that they have the right to do, trump was trying to censor Jimmy Kimmel by reaching out to ABC.
And, he tried to censor Chrissy Teigan by reaching out to twitter.🤔
These we are aware of. How many others did he try to silence?
He is what the first amendment is supposed to protect us from.
This in particular, is the kind of thing that makes his claims that he established his "Truth" website to "promote free speech" so ridiculous and hypocritical. Trump balked when Twitter simply reserved the right to fact-check his posts. If you’re telling the truth, why would that bother you ? Trump tried to sue SNL, who has satirized all the presidents during its run. Most have considered it a badge of honor.
"Free speech for me—not for thee" is apparently the right’s motto. 😩

@bijouxbroussard the idea that they formed a congressional hearing into twitter is insane.
These people have no relationship with truth, integrity, character.
Isnt in his tos that he can not be criticized?
It's happening all over though. It isn't just trump. But he is the head of the snake, for certain.
I just don't understand the right's ability to just let it pass.
@Carla Just look at what DeSantis learned from Trump. You can't criticize DeSantis or else you get punished in Florida and don't criticize anything a White Person says or does in Florida either.
Carla · 61-69, F
I think at this point we all know that every right-wing accusation is actually a confession. The claims of censorship, grooming children, secretly working for China, it's all projection.
@Carla Well now it is, thanks to Trump's taxes finally coming out.
Carla · 61-69, F
@BohemianBoo we knew he had connections with china from the beginning. His trash was mostly made there. His daughter acquired several trademarks shortly after he was elected.
His taxes only confirmed what his history should have proven.

He's often spoken of silencing journalists.

He was walking in on underage(doesn't matter what age, really) girls in various forms of undress during his pageant days. He has been credibly accused of child rape.

He does this shit right out loud and proud. (Not the rape thing)

The two examples of him actually trying to silence critics is just solid affirmation that he will absolutely excersize that kind of corrupt power, given the chance.
@Carla Yeah, but his supporters were claiming that he wasn't still working with China as president. Those of us who accepted Trump for what he is knew that was probably a lie, but now it's undeniable.

The grooming shit is like the biggest projection. Because yeah, Trump bragged about walking into women's changing rooms, but his supporters pretend they're worried about trans women in women's spaces. And for all the phony outrage about kids being groomed at school, Republicans always vote against laws that would ban child marriages.
He is incapable of taking any criticism. He can't ignore it or let it roll off his back. His whole time in office was spent telling us anything critical that came his way was unfair and not nice. Doesn't matter if it came from a colleague in Washington or a forgotten comedian with a podcast. Every bit of it bothers him. If he gets back in office- and it's a very real possibilty- expect him to silence people. He's not going to go through that again because he's effing crazy and can't take it. We've already seen enough Republicans support him through an insurrection and a challenge to Democracy. They will continue to protect while he rips up the Constitution.
Carla · 61-69, F
@robingoodfellow every president, since i can remember, was roasted, parodied and critisized.
He is the poster child for schoolyard bullies.
Dishing it out, yet unable to take it.
And he may well do more than silence people by censoring. He's all in on jailing journalists.
He speaks of that out loud. It's unnerving to think what he is planning in private.
@Carla criticism is part of the job. A part of any job but especially the Presidency. A neurotic is unfit for the position.
I'm totally with you on this. The Second Coming will not be more of the same. It's going to be the Revenge Tour. In his head he played by the rules last time and got screwed. This time we will have to play by his rules. He's not going to surround himself again with long time Washington politicians like Pence. Because they all eventually were asked to put Trump ahead of the country and saw the dark historical hole that was dug for them, and backed away from him. This time he'll make sure everyone around him is 100 percent enabler to the end.

How many did he try to silence? Pretty much ANYONE who said anything disparaging. That's why "fake news" means something very, very different now than what it really is. He's now trying to silence FOX, the WSJ and the NY Post. All outlets that gave him a free pass.
Trump could dish it out, but he really couldn't take it. Here's what I have on Trump's attempts to use the Office of the President to silence Jimmy Kimmel.
President Donald Trump was reportedly so livid over Jimmy Kimmel’s TV jokes that he ordered White House officials to get the late night host muzzled.

Trump, for his part, has long raged at comics making jokes about him, attacking Kimmel, “Saturday Night Live,” Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and more.

The Daily Beast reported in 2021 that Trump during his presidency asked the Justice Department to investigate late night comics who made fun of him, and asked advisors if the Federal Communications Commission or courts could stop the jokes.

Rolling Stone reported on Sunday that there were at least two phone calls to a top Disney executive to demand action against Kimmel in 2018. Disney is the parent company of ABC, which airs “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

One unnamed former senior Trump administration official told the magazine that Trump felt Kimmel was being “very dishonest and doing things that [Trump] would have once sued over.”

@ElwoodBlues
That was just kimmel.
He went after snl too.
Who knows what other people he went for.

Most bullies can not even handle the smallest slight.
I would hate to see his enemies list and his chosen retribution for each on that list🙁
@Carla It seems Ron DeSantis is pretty high on Trump's 'enemies list' these days, LOL!!!

Carla · 61-69, F
@ElwoodBlues he's an easy mark.
TexChik · F
Obviously you are the uninformed lib. Twitter no longer censors conservatives . The FBI was found to have paid them to do so before it was sold . The new owner has fired all those involved and now censors no one . Face book is going broke . 😂
Carla · 61-69, F
@TexChik nothing today, tex.
Just when he was potus trying to censor people making fun of him.
TexChik · F
@Carla proof?

So if it was in you power to shut up a big mouth you wiuldnt try ?
Most normal human beings would try
You say roaating is in good fun but it has taken a turn tiwards hatred

NOT MY PRESIDENT
IF HE GETS ELECTED I'M MOVING TO CANADA ( too bad they lied & didn't relocate !)

we're @ each others throats now which has to stop

BOTH PARTIES WILL SUCK IS DRY & ARE FOR THEMSELVES NOT WEV THE PEOPLE
Carla · 61-69, F
@pdockal silencing, or making the effort to, by the govt is against the constitution. Something, especially the right, screams about. They have a commitee investigating companies for this. But the investigations proved that trump himself tried to silence voiced opinion.
So no. If i was part of the govt i would not try to shut anyone up for voicing an opinion.
And for one moment, try and see what has divided us so much.
Take a look at what the right listens to and declares as truth. Even those pushing those lies and divisions don't believe what they say. But those that listen do.
And no proof that the messengers were deceptive makes any difference.
So yes, we are divided. It's truth vs fiction. Im on the side of truth.

I do remember many republican voters saying the same thing if biden was elected.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Carla just because a committee exists doesn't mean anything
There are jokes and then there is harassment
Before Trump it was jokes
Until he's convicted of a crime I'll reserve judgement
We're divided because were distracted away from what's important
Crap is giving prioritie over substance
Pandering to those with the BIGGEST LOUDEST mouths who are the few
Piper · 61-69, F
Sadly, yes. I recall several times when he spoke with longing of shutting up or shutting down individuals and entities critical of him, while he was. I have little doubt that he looked into ways to do just that, with more of them than we know of for sure.

Keep Kimmel aka Karl Malone out of this.
His best performances were on the Man Show. Sarcasm…

Wow... and I thought he was spending all his time playing golf. I feel so bad now for thinking the worse of him and his job performance.
yeah.. theyd spend 6 years and 2 impeachments and stealing an election in broad daylight to protect 'their boy' right?..

@swirlie hmmmmmm .... i beg to differ as any duly elected person is part of the government ... he wasn't a politician that won the election but he became part of the government once he was sworn into office
