Actually last night. Had a retirement going away party for someone I've worked with (same department but different workgroup) for nearly 35 years. It was great to see a good crowd and some retirees that I haven't seen in a while.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
1991. I was beginning a new job and I did that thing of going out with coworkers after work. I had a club soda and lime. I began playing in bands in bars when I was seventeen and I never liked being around drunk people.
Repete · 61-69, M
Years ago, I have never been much of a drinker but the atmosphere at some bars is great and you never know.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
Same for me, but I was the drinker. It was just cheaper to drink at home.

But I quit the heavy heavy drinking before it destroyed my health

Now its just a beer ever now and then
Repete · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth that may be the biggest reason why I never became a drinker, I have never liked beer at all. It was much cheaper to drink at home but at times the bar use to call.
Musicman · 61-69, M
Last summer. I was told this restaurant was really good. When I got there it was a bar. I decided to try it. I ordered a steak and cheese sub. It wasn't special.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
wow good queston.

5 years ago--the traditional office happy hour kinda thing.

Before the work at home thing tech companeis are notorious for having bars and happy hours in their building. I worked at 3 companies in the last 20 years that did that.

Between COVID, my age and work at home I just stopped being a bar person.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
I was underage I know that. I walked in just to get a glass of water because I had been walking in the heat for hours it felt like
