Would you vote for abolisment of pensions? A huge hurdle in capitalism vs socialism...

TexChik · F
only for elected officials
Mindful · 56-60, F
Yes!@TexChik
BlueVeins · 22-25
Nothing hurts the political viability of socialism more than people financially suffering under capitalism, right?

Right guys?
People would suffer under socialism. @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Spoiledbrat Eh, depends on implementation. State socialism has a pretty dogshit track record, market socialism has potential.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Spoiledbrat some might, some might do much better!
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
That’s a mixed bag. I would change rules for pension.
spjennifer · 56-60, T
@checkoutanytime And who pays for those "town maintained roads" Socialist taxes, right? Do you drink town provided tap water?
@spjennifer no, i ve a well, on my own land, that provides water.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@checkoutanytime i have no idea what you are trying to say. if you have been investing $5k each year and your savings have not increased, then you need to find a professional investment counselor, yes in the last 6 months the stock markets have all suffered loses, but over time, have all made mucho money.
This is not a liberal v conservative, left v right argument, it is actual experiential economics.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
why would anyone in their right mind do that? I actually prefer the old fashioned defined benefit pension to the defined contribution. Both are useful, but the former is far better for those people more conservative about saving.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
No. Social security, yes
Paladin · 56-60, M
@MasterLee Not until you take it out. Which is as it should be.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Paladin why? It was taxed when I put it in.
Paladin · 56-60, M
@MasterLee Are you sure? I've never heard of that happening. When you put money into a 401k it isn't taxed until you take it out.
If you are taking part of your paycheck, and putting it into a savings account, then yes it is taxed before you get your check.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@ checkoutanytime, who's the dummy that wants to abolish pensions?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@checkoutanytime Gas was the equivalent of $5.57 a gallon in 2008. Were you driving then?

@checkoutanytime well, do you believe that paying $5 per gallon stops people in other countries trying to immigrate to the US? Gee, I would have thought you would like that idea, it will stop them from coming and taking your job from you!🤭
Paladin · 56-60, M
@checkoutanytime Yes, those oil companies are screwing us over with their record profits. But it isn't just here in the US, but all over the world.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Well, it's a good thing there's no socialism versus capitalism competition going on anywhere.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Thats alot of money the government would have to repay with interest immediately
4meAndyou · F
Nope. I WOULD vote for some sanity in the use of state and federal pensioners MONEY however. We should definitely not ship it over to the Chinese National Army, as Gavin Newsome did. AND we should not allow Black Rock to use it as a political hammer.

YOUR country,@MalteseFalconPunch!
summersmiles · 51-55, F
@checkoutanytime I hope your kids aren't like you. You are seriously unpleasant.
@summersmiles my daughter's are amazing, exactly like me. The older could be a senator, is what im training her to be. The younger could be the next wnba legend. No lie.
You sure sounds conservative! Nobody should be supported. Especially not after their usefulness in the werkkk force of werkkk Merikka.
The board of directors of nearly every corporation have already voted to abolish pensions because retirement is not profitable.
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@beckyromero we need to end its unlimited access, or its only a cancer
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@checkoutanytime

So, in other words, you want MORE government regulation?

🤣
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@checkoutanytime who has unlimited access to a pension? The estimates are all over the place, but, less than 50% of American workers have pensions which they do not have to pay into, defined benefit, about 50% or so do have defined contributions plans which require the worker to pay and their employer offers some match. At the present time, though, the majority of older people have no pension other than social security.
I clearly don't know enough about politics to answer this question.
I would think no though.
Mindful · 56-60, F
Of course not

You clean tiolets, and you expect me to take a knee for you? I wish you well, but at your age you are your worst enemy.
@checkoutanytime whatever. It's not my first rodeo, not my first job. But you bet I understand that, my country hates,!
