@checkoutanytime i have no idea what you are trying to say. if you have been investing $5k each year and your savings have not increased, then you need to find a professional investment counselor, yes in the last 6 months the stock markets have all suffered loses, but over time, have all made mucho money.
This is not a liberal v conservative, left v right argument, it is actual experiential economics.

If you are taking part of your paycheck, and putting it into a savings account, then yes it is taxed before you get your check.

The estimates are all over the place, but, less than 50% of American workers have pensions which they do not have to pay into, defined benefit, about 50% or so do have defined contributions plans which require the worker to pay and their employer offers some match. At the present time, though, the majority of older people have no pension other than social security.
