Mark Twain is quoted to say...."It is far easier to make people believe a lie than it is to convince them that they believe in lies."

@MaBalzEsHari It was well said.

It is far easier to fool someone than to convince them they’ve been made a fool.

People love to hate. Its much easier to resort to anger and hatred. Critical thinking requires effort.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@WanderlustCat True on many counts.

When I was 17, I manipulated my parents into taking me to a party I wanted to go to by threatening to skip school for the entire first semester if they didn't take me and guess what?
It worked!
My parents took me to the party I wanted to go to and I didn't skip a single day of school.
And do I regret it?
Well... Yes and no.
A part of me regrets it, because I don't like manipulating people.
I don't derive any joy, pleasure or satisfaction out of manipulating others.
But at the same time, it was something I felt I had to do to get what I wanted when I felt that trying anything else wouldn't succeed, plus a part of me would have regretted school if it weren't for that manipulative act on my part.
So in summary, I made a judgement call which went against my better judgement and it became something I would spend a great many years of my life atoning for after all that's been said and done.
Also, the reason I'm imparting this little anecdote about my past experience with manipulation is to explain that not all acts of manipulation are limited to lying.
Sometimes all it takes is a small threat and the will to make good upon said threat if requests and/or demands are not met.
Case in point...

What’s your point troll? @JSul3
TheMinistry · 100+
@jackjjackson
That is incredibly subjective, and therefore as an argument is of no use.
Americans both Republican and Democrat are so radicalised and have wilfully divided their own society, that to play them off against each other to their own detriment is child’s play.
Trolling is having nothing original or interesting to contribute. Something you could easily correct by studying current events

That’s better somewhat. So you are able to do that to them?

The sad part is that it's easier to motivate people with lies than truths.
Tell people to cooperate because a man in the sky says so? They'll do it.
Make a detailed plan based on logic and reason why it would be in everyone's best interest to cooperate? You might get a 3rd of those present to give it a half hearted attempt...at best.

@TheMinistry 😆very true politics is a good example you preach too the great brain washed and they hang on every literal word .we are a mentally weak and fickle race at times sadly and fall for a good sob story too easily

You're only throwing random banana peels to slip on later on but good luck with that one chimpy.

@TheMinistry Truth stings, don't it?
Yup... hence why we have and pay for the BBC.
The only service that you have to pay for - even if you opt to not watch BBC programmes.

That is the principle behind the current direction being taken by the GOP.

@CorvusBlackthorne Left or right, you’re the same. You’ve terminally divided your society, now it’s simple for your international competitors to play the tensions against your best interest.

@TheMinistry I see. You are an enemy of America.
TheMinistry · 100+
@CorvusBlackthorne Not exactly an enemy. More observer of their sinking culture. Strife at home satisfactorily curbs their global ambitions.
