There is a case for taking away guns. Certainly there are less shootings in England, Australia, and Canada than there are in the US.
However, I do think that the right to bear arms is a good one and fully support it. It is just important to recognize that there is validity to the other sides arguments.
I do believe in limited gun control, as in I think you should need a license which requires a background check and is flagged if their is medical illness or a history of suicide attempts. I also think that there should be mandatory safety training and testing for everyone attempting to purchase their first gun.

@Challenger1 Castro and Hitler both enjoyed the idea that the people expected the police and army to take care of them. The people under those dictators gave up their guns when asked to without a fight. How well did that turn out?

@acpguy I said a case can be made, not that I agree with it. Do you people even read what I write?
In the second paragraph of my initial response I clearly laid out that I support and believe in the right to bear arms.

@Challenger1 I said the same thing.

There are laws for everything except gun laws, in this country. Yes, people are still going to buy guns illegally. As they do in any country. But the difference would be the number of mass shootings will go down. Like other countries. Nobody is saying to take away ALL guns. Nobody is saying to take them from innocent people. What we are saying is make those laws for those that shouldn’t be carrying in the first place.
acpguy · C
@NaturalBeautyQueen It still makes no sense.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@acpguy it doesn’t make sense to you, because you don’t want it to make sense. And with that, I don’t know what to tell you. Except turn on your television.
acpguy · C
@NaturalBeautyQueen You are nuts I nor anyone else can argue with a liberal as they have no logic when they cannot stay on track with what they state.
Gun control / laws? You cannot have gun control with out laws enacted to control them. So your statements make no sense what so ever. Please use some logic instead of carrying on like a typical liberal arguing ad nauseam.

Might fewer people become outlaws with fewer guns?
WoodyAq · M
@NaturalBeautyQueen That's true. But more people drink, the younger the drinking age. More people do drugs when drugs are legal... I could go on. But those are victimless crimes. it doesn't take a lot of people to do more real damage to a lot of people, the deadlier the weaponry they have.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@WoodyAq “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.”
And because of that, it’s the wrong kind of people killing. Facts that I have already stated.

Spot on. In the gun control debate, the topic of DGUs (defensive gun use) -intentionally avoided. Gun control advocates have buried the CDC study that estimates there are as many as 2.5 million DGUs annually. The doesn't mean the gun was fired. A DGU can be a situation where a gun is brandished to thwart a threat. Other groups have attempted to estimate annual DGUs...low end is 100,000. Bottom line, guns are used to stop crime far more often than they are used to commit a crime.

That’s the common sense consensus . 👍🏻

The school shooter in Florida legally purchased that AR-15. He was a law-abiding gun owner. Right up until he wasn't.

@NaturalBeautyQueen NRA and mostly republicans are against adding gun laws. There are enough gun laws on the books and many do not make sense as they do more to protect the bad guys from harm. Like allowing everyone that has a concealed carry permit to carry in all states and cities, thus allowing a legal person to protect themselves and others from harm.
Imagine if you would that some guy is going rape you or rob you and beat the crap out of you. If a man form a different state is nearby but does not have his gun that he licensed to carry in his home state he cannot do much to help other than get him / her self killed trying. That is only one example of stupid laws and these are typically in liberal controlled states or cities. And they are typically "sanctuary" cities where a lot of crimes are done by illegal aliens. It does not pay to interfere when the bad guy has a knife, club or gun if you do not have anything.

@acpguy The only thing that there are no control of, are guns. There’s control in alcohol, control in marijuana, control in driving. But there aren’t any when it comes to guns. Obama and Hilary never said they want to take away all guns. That’s not what they said at all. The laws are not right enough.
Everybody that were victims, survivors, lost of loved ones, in these shootings, are not talking about more guns. They’re not even talking about taking away guns. They are talking about gun control.

@NaturalBeautyQueen What world do you live in? There are all kinds of controls on guns, polease if you are going to argue something then at least do some fact checking on your comments before your put them in print.
"Obama and Hilary never said they want to take away all guns." You are wrong again, they both stated at times that semi auto weapons / assault weapons need to be stopped from being sold despite Obama saying in typical hypocrite fashion "You can keep your guns" just like he stated "you can keep your doctor". Both were two faced liars.
Then you state in typical hypocrite fashion "Everybody that were victims, survivors, lost of loved ones, in these shootings, are not talking about more guns. They’re not even talking about taking away guns. They are talking about gun control."There are of liberals that are responsible gun owners. I know a lot. Friends and family. I know people that taught their kids how to handle a gun at the age of 5. I am ALL for that. Because honestly, I think it should start at a young age. And I’m saying this as someone that isn’t a gun owner, but know based on what my friends and family tell me."
You speak like a typical phony liberal that lies.

why would anyone (aside from a soldier in combat) need an AR-15 to "protect their home"
workathome · 56-60, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand nope, bad anwer
Challenger1 · M
@workathome You need to explain why it is a bad answer for the conversation to continue...
Just saying it is a bad answer simply expresses your impression of it and doesn't give any reason.

@workathome Lol, then go away... random profile anyway
Excellent brevity and point well made
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
irrelevant.. people who are capable to stand trial also have been known to kill.
Challenger1 · M
@sighmeupforthat Yes, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't limit people who are known to be a high risk, to themselves and society.
