I Think That When Guns Are Outlawed Only Outlaws Will Have Gun [Pro Gun]

Taking the guns of innocent people won't create less crime; it will just damage a industry and strip people of a way to protect their home.

A criminal will find a way to get a weapon.

As long as the person is sane of mind and cares/stores for their weapon properly; I don't see the problem.

There is a case for taking away guns. Certainly there are less shootings in England, Australia, and Canada than there are in the US.

However, I do think that the right to bear arms is a good one and fully support it. It is just important to recognize that there is validity to the other sides arguments.

I do believe in limited gun control, as in I think you should need a license which requires a background check and is flagged if their is medical illness or a history of suicide attempts. I also think that there should be mandatory safety training and testing for everyone attempting to purchase their first gun.

@Challenger1 bear arms ...😉... and mental illness , not medical ... right?
@TexChik Thank you, spelling does improve the presentation of the argument. ;)
@Challenger1 In this situation ... IBM, the FBI, the school superintendent, the local sheriff and CPS could have prevented it.

All had enough info early enough to request surrendering the weapon, based on CPS concerns ... until a judge could weigh in regarding the threats.

He was expelled for threats.

The IBM system they use for background checks ... neither matches the law nor the spirit.
@questionWeaver Can't say I know much about the IBM system.

The law was written in a time when background checks weren't possible. And perhaps it doesn't match the law or the spirit. But tracking and licensing would not prevent people from having guns so long as they are not diagnosed by a medical professional with a mental disorder or have been involved with violent crime.

@Challenger1 I agree with you. I’m not an either.

@Challenger1 England is under Muslim occupation ... you gave up without firing a shot ! Pathetic !
@TexChik What does Islam have to do with this? I don't believe in shooting people because of their religion.

I also am not sure what you mean?
TexChik · F
@Challenger1 Islam
Invaded where the weak refuse to or are unable to defend themselves . Instead you get told that women might get raped and are getting sharia law .
@TexChik Okay, but the way to resist these cultural changes is with political and social change and fortitude. Stand on the law and vote and work to protect the values we believe in. You cannot use violence, so this isn't really relevant to gun control.

Also I am not saying that people shouldn't be able to have guns. I am saying that I am pro licensing, mandatory training, and background checks.

@Challenger1 violence and intimidation are what the Muslims are using to take your island away from you ... and you want to Neville Chamberlain the thing ? 🙄. The meek shall inherit sharia law
@TexChik No, I will met violence with violence, but it will be violence by a authorized and trained person with the authority to do so. Namely the military and police to counter terrorism and crime. We should also be strong with our voices speaking up against people trying to change our laws in the name of tolerance not realizing that the laws they are changing are what protect the tolerance of the innocent and are deliberately intolerant of the guilty.

But again this does not have to do with gun control... I don't know how you got here.
TexChik · F
@Challenger1 riiight , you cant defend yourselves and your government saw to that . They tried that here ... but you know that story . Point is , we don’t have that problem because we can defend ourselves .
@TexChik Just for your information I am not English. It isn't my Island.

Again I am not against the second amendment. I agree that we should have the right to bear arms.

I simply said that there is a case to be made that restricting guns reduces shootings and mass shootings. The statistics show it.

I think the importance of maintaining the Second Amendment outweighs that. I believe in the second amendment. I do think that we can have some level of accountability around guns where certain people cannot get them because they are not socially capable of handling them safely. I think people should be trained in gun safety before walking out with on. I think criminals should not be able to buy guns. That is it, everyone else who is trained should be able to have guns if they so desire.

@Challenger1 the case is being made that the FBI had the info in advance and didn’t follow up .... no surprise there

@Challenger1 Castro and Hitler both enjoyed the idea that the people expected the police and army to take care of them. The people under those dictators gave up their guns when asked to without a fight. How well did that turn out?
@acpguy I said a case can be made, not that I agree with it. Do you people even read what I write?

In the second paragraph of my initial response I clearly laid out that I support and believe in the right to bear arms.

@Challenger1 I said the same thing.
