Being in the United States on a visa is a privilege not an entitlement

Those who have taken advantage, and either have overstayed, or haven’t renewed their visa need to be deported. Especially those who are defending terrorist activity.
missyann · 56-60
@SatanBurger if they are legal immigrants with student visas. They must follow the law and have their visas renewed, and must follow immigration laws and if they choose not to, then it is legal to deport them. They don’t have to commit a violent crime to be deported

It is a privilege to live in the United States. It is not an entitlement.

Are the immigrant’s paying for their education themselves ? Or is the government paying for it?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@missyann And the United States could renew those visas at any given time for the purpose of those students still getting their degrees. You know the real reason the govt chooses not to give students due process and weigh their cases individually, don't lie lol. Not every immigration case should be treated as the exact same way

Are the immigrant’s paying for their education themselves ? Or is the government paying for it?

What is it with this assumption that MAGA has, that anyone not white receives everything for free?

International students typically pay full out-of-state tuition at public universities and often pay more at private ones. They do not qualify for federal financial aid like Pell Grants.

That said, some may receive scholarships funded by the university, private donors, or their home country.

In rare cases, graduate students on research assistantships may receive tuition waivers and stipends but these are usually earned through merit-based programs, not handouts.

It is a privilege to live in the United States. It is not an entitlement.

Sure, living in the U.S. isn’t a guaranteed right for non-citizens. But that doesn’t mean we should treat people who follow the rules with suspicion or hostility. Immigration policy should be based on fairness and contribution, not on moral superiority by a bunch of xenophobes.

Also, everything is a privilege, if someone wanted to come in and take your rights, they could. If we were at war and another country took over, you wouldn't have rights or at least not in the way you're used to. If for some reason, Trump gets rid of Medicare, people say the same thing about health and education. Some don't believe it at all. I've heard conservatives argue that health is a privilege and that everything we have are privileges.

This is why due process and defending the constitution is important is precisely this.

@SatanBurger Our healthcare system is messed up in this country, but Medichare for everyone is not the answer. Free every thing is not the answer because anything free someone is paying for it.

You are the one who is obsessed with the
“ white privilege “ I don’t care if you’re black, white brown, purple or green a Citizen, or an immigrant no one is entitled to a free higher education.

We have to take care of our own citizens first. I’m not saying that people cannot donate to help immigrants and there are a lot of churches and societies that do help. We just don’t hear about them. We have to take care of our own citizens before we open our borders to immigrants. We have to get control of our borders and the bad elements coming into our country
President Trump is trying to do this

Some of the immigrants being deported have deportation orders from years ago
Some under the Biden administration. There just wasn’t anyone to ensure that they were deported. DHS and ICE has the list of these people. Some haven’t committed any crimes since they received the order, but the fact that they are here illegally justifies deporting them

Unless you are disabled, or elderly public assistance is short term help it is not meant to be a generational way of life. I understand one unplanned pregnancy and needing assistance for a short time, but there is no reason that the American taxpayers should be forced to pay for women to have multiple pregnancies.

Call me racist if you want. I don’t care. I know that I’m not.

No, the government is doing the correct way of getting rid of students living in the country illegally. The students visas has a certain time frame to study in the USA, and once that time has expired they are obligated to leave the country.

Simple rules we all need to follow

@anythingoes477

If those students are so smart, why didn’t they renew their visas like other people. Or were they doing something that they knew was wrong.
@MarthannBann888 They definitely should have renewed their visas. I agree. Its not optional..........its a requirement to renew as long as they are students. But kids are kids and I think you know most are not known for making great decisions. That is NOT an excuse........their visas should be kept current. But simply deporting them....even with all of the above said...........without due process.....is a violation of the 5th and 14th Amendments to the Constitution................like it or not. The language in both amendments says clearly.........."NO PERSON shall be denied due process".

So negligent in renewing a student visa or not............once on U.S. soil the Constitution says they are to be given due process. To overlook that is true trumper.............."the Constitution don't matter because......."

It DOES matter.

And it also matters that in almost every case we are seeing in the news............those visas were not in need of renewal. Trump is cancelling them before they expire...............which is illegal and unconstitutional. On U.S. soil even non-U.S. citizens have First Amendments right to freedom of speech. However if that freedom of speech is deemed by Trump's boot lickers as being used to say "bad things" (the truth) about Orange Jesus........those visas are being revoked BEFORE they expire. That voids your point that the kids are at fault for not renewing them.

True as far as it goes. BUT.

The tRump admin has been cancelling many valid student visas. It's not the fault of the student when tRump cancels the visa.

Trump cancels hundreds of student visas, forcing rapid departures April 11

DENVER ‒ The Trump administration has revoked hundreds of international student visas across the country, setting off a desperate scramble for them to leave the United States within days.

Universities have reported some students being forced to leave immediately, in many cases after discovering their visas were canceled in the federal Student Exchange and Visitor Information System or via an unexpected text or email. Multiple universities contacted by the USA TODAY Network regarding the visa cancellations declined to discuss specifics, citing student confidentiality.

"The federal government has been taking steps to terminate the legal status of international students with expired visas. Some colleges have advised students to leave the country to avoid the risk of being detained or deported.

However, a federal judge in Wisconsin ruled that the government could not take steps to detain or revoke the visa of a University of Wisconsin-Madison gradate student1. The process of revoking a visa is handled by the State Department."

(source unclear..possibly Wikipedia)

"At Minnesota State University in Mankato, President Edward Inch told the campus Wednesday that visas had been revoked for five international students for unclear reasons.

He said school officials learned about the revocations when they ran a status check in a database of international students after the detention of a Turkish student at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The State Department said the detention was related to a drunken driving conviction."

Reading individual case files, each revoked student visa seems to stem from an infraction of the law. These infractions range from attempting to bring animal embryos through customs, (when this is illegal), to drunk driving, to 300 revocations for radical activism on behalf of Hamas.

No it is the law. America first. We owe foreign students nothing. We are generous to allow them to come into our universities in the first place.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
On the face of it that seems fair. I would expect that in my own country as long as 'due process' is adhered to. The Law is what it is until changed by Law Makers. Your bald statement gives nothing for anyone to argue against.
TexChik · F
Once the visa expires that person can no longer live in this country and is supposed to go home. There is nothing sad or crazy about the enforcement of the law. More importantly, those people knew the law, agreed to it, and tried to stay illegally beyond their visas anyway.
jeancolby · 31-35, F
@TexChik Exactly right.
carpediem · 61-69, M
Good news. Thanks for the info
AmericanAvenger · 56-60, M
That is the law. Being in America is not something to be taken for granted. We need to make the rest of the world know that.
missyann · 56-60
@AmericanAvenger Exactly it is a privilege not an entitlement🇺🇸

The first step to earn this privilege is to follow our laws
AmericanAvenger · 56-60, M
@missyann Indeed - and I would add to learn and speak English.
missyann · 56-60
@AmericanAvenger Absolutely!!!
Immigrants who have legally waited years to become US citizens usually want to assimilate
MasterLee · 56-60, M
As they are supposed to
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
Yeah I don't know either
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@WowwGirl it works the same. If you need to stay longer you extend legally. If you let it expire you are in violation.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@MasterLee I don't see my ass doing or communicating well in most countries. So? I could have screwed up too maybe in their position.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Expired=illegal
We usually get the best of other countries
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
If their student visas are expired, they are no longer here legally.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
If the visa is expired, why are they here?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
We know, Federal law does not apply to illegal aliens, right?

pancakeslam · 46-50, M
Yeah but they're not entitled to be here when their visa is expired AND they're making trouble.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
Does the word expired mean anything to you? Totally absurd.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@GerOttman I just feel bad for some
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
Simply put
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@Mudkip me too
But on the bright side.........not all students. Trump really hates the ones from countries that don't have pure white skin.
