Ok ok, I apologize. I’ll try not to be so sarcastic or rude if you’ll do the same. You gotta admit before Biden, prices were cheap. Gas was cheap. Food was cheap. Then covid hit and then Biden made prices sore. It takes a while to recover from a disaster like Biden. Right before the election Biden flooded the market with our oil reserve trying to get gas prices down and it worked somewhat but at what cost? Then his own back stabbing comrades threw him under the bus and kicked him off the table. Actually thinking cackling camel toe could beat Trump. Yes the war with Iran is making gas high but not any more than under Biden. Iran without nuclear weapons is worth every penny. So probably yes it’s a dumpster fire right now but it was a landfill fire under sleepy joe.

First, i'm disappointed you're buying that nonsense about preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
American intelligence indicated that there was no risk of Iran developing a nuclear weapon.

Trump threw out the nuclear agreement made by Obama which had seen a huge reduction in the refinement of enriched uranium and offered strict oversight on Iranian nuclear operations.
Trump torpedoed trade deals with America's closest trading partner starting a trade war....which he's now losing.
Trump cut off benefits upon which millions of Americans depended.
Trump added more to national debt than any other president in history.
Trump grew inflation that went down in Biden's term.
Trump appointed sycophants instead of professionals and now masked operatives detain, beat and even kill illegals and citizen alike without due process in violation of the constitution.
Trump broke his promise of no new wars and started a war that is making life harder for Americans and weakening the American military and reputation day by day.
Trump is spending millions of tax dollars on vanity projects while Americans lose access to social safety nets.
Trump is ignoring the Judicial branch of government with impunity....violating the constitution again.
Trump is calling the for the imprisonment of critical press and the execution of dissenters.
Trump is telling Americans that the economy is great and gas is cheap while farmers lose generational land and citizens struggle, meanwhile he actively exploits the presidency to enrich himself and his mob family via crypto currency, under the table investments in UFC and is now trying to sell early access to presidential policy.....et fucking cetera.
Trump has created an America divided against itself like nothing seen since the Civil war while telling you everything is better than it's ever been and also you can buy a coin with his face on it.

That's off the top of my head.

@GerOttman Over here, comic books are considered "art"... Belgo-Franco commics are huge.

I have to say though... I'm glad that I didn't grew with American Super-hero comics. As you can see in one of my pictures, I have a weak spot for 80s-90s Batman... I consider some American commics art... like "Kingdom Come" from Vertigo. But most of the Superhero stuff, is simple, it's annoyingly soapy, and it's so clear that these people need to pop out 1 commicbook every 2 weeks. This mass-production, kills quality.

European commics, sometimes take 2 years to get a new issue. Some things have been running for 30 years, and they barely have 13 albums, but those things have more quality then the American Super Hero industry.

There are certain things that need to be appreciated:

- Jack Kirby, not because of the content (imo) but more for the way how he uses panels and creates motion in comics

... and then you have the British guys, that actually introduce a more European themed comic book in the Marvel and DC world.

- Sandman, by Neil Gaiman... is incredible
- Preacher, by Garth Enis is really good
- Watchmen, Swamp Thing, ... by Allan Moore is brilliant
... And you have Morrison, I got more a "love - hate" relationship with him, but he's still a brilliant writer.

Since Covid, I've been delving in the Japanese Manga scene, but I only read the stuff that a lot people recommend as the best things that you can buy in English. Because Japan, just like the US, sometimes pops out a bit to much simple childish stuff... like "Dragonball", "Bleach", ... etc. I keep far away from that stuff.

But there are some really good story tellers out there, that work in the comic book medium. And they should be availble and even considered "literature" sometimes. That's just my opinion... I do dislike it when people pull up their nose, if they never read a good comic. If you dislike something, then at least know what you dislike.

@Kwek00 my kids are all into the manga scene, I've had several people recommend Gaiman. I still like picking up a Heavy Metal edition when I'm lucky enough to spot one on the shelf. The movie was fuqin awesome!!

@GerOttman All those french dudes that worked on "Heavy Metal"... since it was originally a french coalition that moved their experiments to America, are in my collection. I like it... because it's weird. It's pulpy, not really for the kids. But if you like to read some over the top pulpy SF, then there are a bunch of good titles in there.

If you like something deeper, read "The Incal" by Yodorowski and Moebius. It's sad that Moebius gets tired at the end of a series... because the art starts to get a bit wonky, but that story is really good. And if you want another banger go for "The Metabarons" ... just amazing stuff, still being published by "humanoids" press.

Gaiman is really good: Sandman and American Gods, were both really likeable. I read the graphic novel adapatation of American Gods... because it's originally a book.

I think manga has to become more popular then American comics over time... just because of the price. There are just a lot of good stories there. But they also publish a lot of garbage. But things like

- Berserk
- Monster
- Vagabond
- Goodnight PunPun
- Fullmetal Alchemist

Are some of the best stories I know in graphic novel format. Berserk and Monster are genius, and Vagabond you should only read for the artwork. IT's almost a picture book... unlike Neil Gaiman, Gaiman is a lot of effort to read.

And there are other American things... like "Blankets" is a really good read.

There is just so much out there.
