And Germany, after Chancellor Merz pointed out that America has been thoroughly humiliated in the Gulf.

He wanted to test their loyalty. He finds it lacking.
They find him lacking in far more than loyalty....

@Carla Loyalty does not mean unquestioning subservience to petulance and illegality.
NATO is a defensive alliance: if one NATO country is attacked it expects others in the alliance to come to its aid.
It is not designed to start or support unilateral, unplanned assaults for unclear reasons, of dubious international legality and morality and with no prior discussion (let alone agreement) with NATO or the UN, by a NATO nation on anyone else.

@Carla It was a "test" and we all apparently failed 🥺

If they want the oil they comes from Iran they should have helped
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Prison1203 That's the wrong way to look at it. Those countries who buy oil from Iran are far more likely to do so by acting civilly and not attacking it; however distasteful and dangerous the exporter's regime.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Prison1203 Helped in what way? Trump has no strategy and has changed his objectives at least four times. Any country coming to his aid could easily find themselves on the wrong side the following week.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Prison1203 ummmm the oil was flowing nicely up until Trump interfered...
ArishMell · 70-79, M
I am not sure even he really knows; but he is very petulant and cannot take criticism, however just.
He's now announced withdrawing 5000 US troops from Germany, merely over Germany's criticism of his war-by-executive-order on Iran.
(I had not realised this, but apparently the US President does have the authority under US-only law to declare war on any country without approval. He has to seek Congressional approval only if the fighting goes on longer than two months, but Trump is using a cease-fire to claim his war has "ended". I don't know the status of NATO approval under this; but anyway, NATO was established as a mutual defence pact.)

If Russia attacked a NATO country, Trump probably wouldn't oppose it anyway. It might make his best friend, Vlad the Mad, upset... 🤔
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@walabby Yes, america is now aligned with russia, and the americans seem to be OK with that.
For the past century america's strength and security has come from the numerous and stable alliances it formed around the world.
That is over now, and america is alone.

He just keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper..they're already setting up their own defense infrastructure...Boeing just lost that EWACs deal
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, MVIP
@NerdyPotato And as much as the world will be pragmatic about doing business with America again, there is still the matter of $US. Devaluing by the minute now. Long term contracts wont be signed in those for payement. The dollar has deflated over 10% against major players in the last year.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman thankfully the US debt isn't too high so there's a buffer. Oh wait...
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, MVIP
@NerdyPotato You got a doubletake out of me with that one.😷

Tbose military bases and troops aren't all over the world to protect people.
They exist to stay needed. They create the demand themselves.
I am so glad we have absolutely no foreign military bases in Algeria.

whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, MVIP
And exactly where would those troops be used? Maybe as a security ring around Trump 50 men deep, in case he is attacked by some demented school crossing guard and the secret service arent up to the job?? Clearly the Trump Secret service arent as motivated as one would hope. 😷
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman I wonder how long it will be before trump renames the Secret Service to Trump Schutzstaffel and signs yet another Executive Order to bolster its numbers by adding MAGA loyalists
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, MVIP
@newjaninev2 I promise you he isnt going to do that. He has enough trouble with smaller English words. He is not about to choke himself getting one of those german complex multisyllabic ones out..😷

because he has dreams of grandeur! he has no idea of what NATO stands for, believes the countries owe him something. He is single handedly destroying our modern world, in many ways. the sad thing is that although he is the instigator, he has many supporters or others that simply do not choose to oppose him.
