Those of us who have lived long enough have seen average life-expectancy significantly extended in our lifetimes, and probably can be a little longer. Just like genetically modified plants.
That doesn't mean the quality will be worth the extra years, or that immortality is obtainable. Even tortoises and redwoods eventually die.
As Yuval Noah Harari has posited, if all the billionaires in the world who waste their money chasing immortality spent that money on improving the quality of life on this planet, humanity would be far better served.

Elon has yet to perfect auto-driving despite hyping it. He cost the USA government money after saying he was going to save it $3 trillion. He drove Twitter into the ground. And, he turned Tesla from a respected company to a target for retribution because of his chain saw antics. He quitely abandoned the "hyperloop" that was going to revolutionize commuter travel. So far, Space X and Starlink are successes although will be tested by competition for the first time
Longevity might be a problem that can be solved, but not by Elon Musk. He enjoys thinking he's smarter than he really is. I bet he can't even identify a picture of a giraffe or remember a series of words like "person, woman, man, camera, TV." And I doubt he could survive on a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a (small) tortilla, and one of something else no matter how much of a ketamine stupor he might be in at any given time.

@sree251 Nowhere near Nirvana. But look what happened to Kurt...My aim has always been to get to the other end with as little regret as possible. And Yes. I do sound pompous even to me. But I had a lot of luck and I never took the easy path. So I feel entitled. PS. Our kids learned by my example and are both successful in careers and as families of their chosen path. Another piece of luck I can feel pompous about.. See? I know I am not perfect and I am OK with that..😷

Aso for the rest, as an Atheist I believe we make our own Devils. And I have put mine to rest. As i said. I dont need to be perfect.. And why would the USA vanish? It will just fade as it is hollowed out like an old mine shaft..And thats because greedy people mined it, rather than fed it and kept it healthy.😷
