do the dems remember

that unpaid troops and starving citizens is what started revolutions in the past
Top | New | Old
Both parties are playing chicken. Just wait until the unpaid air traffic controllers cripple the air transportation system. The Dems have a point if the Republicans wait until the end of the year, and open enrollments, many won't know the cost of their health insurance or just lose it entirely.

Health insurance needs to be discussed! If the Republicans think ACA is horrible -- fine! They claim to have been working on an alternative since when... when donald was in office the first time? So where the heck is there plan? Put it on the table and show why it is better.

@newjaninev2 president trump is not a king and its schumer holding up the bill
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Mountainlady16King Donald has neutered Congress and corrupted SCOTUS.
He reigns alone from his throne room (the former Oval Office) and is currently destroying as much of America's democracy and history as possible and as quickly as possible.
It's government by edict (executive order) and social media.
Meanwhile he's building the crass and gaudy Marie Antoinette Ballroom as a monument to his unchecked power and will soon extend the construction of his palace over the bones of America's abandoned democracy.
After 250 years Americans once again serve a mad king.

@TryingtoLava Agreed . She is a shameless child bride if she is even who she purports to be
Elessar · 31-35, M
What do the "dems" have to do with it? Republicans are the one who control House, Senate and Presidency right now
@Mountainlady16 More lies, you just repeat obvious lies... and blindly blame the other party without having a clue what you are talking about.
@Elessar Well normally when a President got out of line, Congress and Judges had the balls to stand up to them...

Currently the GOP in Congress have been cucked by Trump, as they fear being voted out by the cult of personality

And the Judges want promotions and Trump is clearly handing them to judges that give him what they want, so they're it's a quid pro quo situation
Elessar · 31-35, M
@sstronaut I'm aware. The problem indeed is the system is designed to contain the possibility that one individual could go rogue, not that an entire party could back him.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Why ask the Dems? They are trying to get the party in power to provide food and medical care that was removed from the budget.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 because they are the ones holding up the bill
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Mountainlady16 no they are really not. They have asked for modifications, the standard procedures in the Senate. Once the SNAP funds and ACA funds are put back in, then they can vote and then the bill goes into joint negotiations between the house and Senate in hopes of a compromise that doesn't hurt people. That is how it is supposed to work. That is why the Senate has stricter rules for passage of a bill. It protects the minority from a majority that runs amuck.

@Mountainlady16 The ones holding up the bill now are the Republicans. Because as soon as they reconvene, Grijalva will HAVE to be sworn in. And that will mean... Epstein!

Prepare for indefinite shutdown thanks to the GOP (Guardians of Pedophiles)
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
"A shutdown falls on the President’s lack of leadership. He can’t even control his own party and get people together in a room. A shutdown means the president is weak."

A little quote from Trump.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@JimboSaturn proof dems will believe anything they see online
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Mountainlady16 False, I fact checked , unlike you, and openingly corrected myself.
@JimboSaturn of course he said it before, he sure as hell wouldn't be saying it now.... 😂
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
Why would it just be the Dems, Republican house passed a bill then went home so they would not have to discuss any changes.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@Subsumedpat not all of them.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@Mountainlady16 You don't need the speaker and 1 over half.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@Subsumedpat yes you do believe me as much as i hate the dems without least some them we be worse off
Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. They're in control; it's their job to make a deal.

@Mountainlady16 Nope. Senate rules allow one budget bill per year to be passed by simple majority; there are restrictions on what constitutes a budget bill. It originated with the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1980.
See https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/R48444

The ACA was originally a standalone bill, but became part of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.

OBBB was also a reconciliation bill.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@ElwoodBlues the aca was the famous bill u have to sign to read whats in it. Shit i was just what 10 when it was passed and i remember that debated
@Mountainlady16 I'm quite familiar with the ACA. It was rolled into a budget reconciliation bill, just like OBBB. Read up on the history of budget reconciliation. As I said, one Senate bill per year can take advantage of reconciliation, and it has to be budget related.

I remember when ACA was challenged in the Supreme Court and ruled to be a tax plus regulations on the insurance industry; therefore legal. I remember when tRump campaigned in 2016 to replace it with something better and cheaper that covers everyone; however, no such alternative plan was ever proposed. Republicans could have killed it in any one of their budget reconciliation bills, and they finally hollowed it out in OBBB.

Lolz! People without politics and without a place in their world can't do revolution. Americans can not!
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Some one has fallen into the hate propaganda hole.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@JimboSaturn hows that because i know what the 60 vote rule means but yall seem to not
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Mountainlady16 You were schooled by quoting this over and over again.. Do you ever think for yourself. I can tell you are schooled by propaganda because you use the exact same words and insults as everyone else because you all swallowed the same website.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F

Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@SW-User what is called the american revolution by legal definition is a war for independence a revolution overthrows a government
Carla · 61-69, F
@Mountainlady16 the revolutionaries overthrew the british monarchy, a form of government. Representatives of that govt, governed colonists at the monarchy's order. British forces fought for that govt., against those revolting.
They were overthrown. That govt expelled.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@Carla yeah i guess that is true
