Poor little Greta.🤣 She better stick to pushing the great climate hoax.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@ron122 doom goblin

The US Navy doesn't assist vessels that are trying to run blockades of countries we'te not at war with. Plus, there were no Americans on the Good Ship Lollipop. A better question is where your friends in the Iranian navy were.

Do we expect China to believe that we are protecting freedom of the seas in the Taiwan Straits?

We aren't the world's police. It's not our place to protect freedom of the seas, nor do we have the military power to do so. We couldn't even stop the Houthis in the Red Sea, so there's your answer.

That may be so but the doctrine of US power over the world has been established after we took over from the Brits at the end of WW2. We couldn't even stop the rice farmers of Vietnam nor could we deal with the goat herders of Afghanistan. Without fancy weaponry, our tough guys would have had their butts kicked every time Uncle Sam sent them abroad to fight.

@sree251 we took over control of patrolling the worlds oceans after WW2. And global business has been booming ever since.

Took over? From whom? Business is still booming and expected to be booming on with China's Belt and Road facilitating trade away from maritime choke points at the Panama Canal, Suez Canal, and the Malacca Straits.

One of the concerns is this happened in international rather than territorial waters. Israel needs to be held to account for its actions.
@sree251 Any country. And yes, Gaza is not part of Israel, but it's also not an independent country.

It's fascinating how you're more invested in this than the people involved. The Madleen is a UK flagged vessel, and Greta is a Swedish citizen, but I don't see the UK or Sweden treating this as an act of war. It was basically a bunch of spoiled rich kids LARPing. And the "aid" did eventually get to the people of Gaza, so mission accomplished.

I'm sure that Bibi "bypassed" Obama because the latter had already made his feelings toward Bibi perfectly obvious.

And if some foreign leader were to bypass Trump and address Congress directly because Trump didn't like that leader, you would be cheering like mad. 🤣

Gaza is a strip of land in Palestine.

In the Mediterranean?
It's a pity the North Pole is so far away 🙄
I know America's government won't do anything to stop Israel from kidnapping Thunberg, but I hope Sweden gets involved.
@sree251 Greta was already beloved by the left for her work in climate change, so I'm surprised you like her so much. She's as woke as they come.

A lot of what Gandhi did, like the Salt March, was definitely self-promoting. He did say the Holocaust was the greatest crime of our time, so I'm sure you disapprove of him for that, although he did continue to say that the Jews should have thrown themselves from cliffs to arouse the world's sympathy.

I am not denying that the Jews were victims of war and much hated. Many other people suffered this also. Humans hate one another for one reason or another. Just because you got punch in the face that doesn't make you special.
@LeopoldBloom
Greta isn't an agent of Hamas, she's just a self-promoting ignoramus.

Even if that's true, what she's still doing is positive.

We could always discount someone's work by saying they're just self-promoting and often there's no way to tell what someone truly believes. People have discounted Bernie Sanders by saying he just likes the spotlight. I don't believe that, but even if that is the case, at least the change he's fighting for is positive. Same goes for Greta.

Israel has a blockade in effect. No way they're going to allow a bunch of attention seekers through. Who knows what they could have been carrying. She should consider herself lucky.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
We totally should have sent a fleet of air craft carriers to save her
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LeopoldBloom
You don't get to enter a country without a visa, dummy.

Greta was captured in international waters. Iran was attacked. Only thugs would do such things. How would you like your neighbor to whack you in the public space because he thinks your behavior is a threat to him?

Let the swedish navy get her
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LeopoldBloom
If you felt so strongly, why weren't you on it?

I feel strongly about the US Navy for not defending Greta's freedom of navigation in the Mediterranean. The Israeli naval vessel should be blown out of the water the way we depose of pirates.
@sree251 The US Navy isn't responsible for worldwide shipping, dummy. It's responsible for protecting American vessels, and there wasn't even an American on it. Besides, your orange lord and savior wouldn't have ordered a US Navy vessel to protect her, first because she was never in any danger, and second, he's on Israel's side. And let's not even talk about Pete Hegseth; if it had been up to him, he would have ordered the Navy to blow up Greta's ship. Regret voting for the orange pus yet?

I'm sure you were hoping the IDF would kill everyone on board so you could complain about how mean there are. If it had been up to me, I would have let them land and Hamas could have dealt with them. But if they'd been taken hostage, you would have blamed Israel anyway. She just did it for attention, and she definitely succeeded.

I love the expression on her face as she's on her way home and forced to contribute to the burning of fossil fuel.

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sree251 the fact that the US has a large number of ships does not mean it "Rules the Seas!" You are certainly the coherent one, lol, you are in the far right. Take a look at my definition of a liberal of leftist, what is your definition of a rightest? Are you against equality, clean air, clean water, worker safety...

You are too old to be arguing woke ideology.

Are you against equality, clean air, clean water, worker safety...

I am not against anything invented for public protest. It's the protestors who need to be thrown out of the country.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sree251 really what does age have to do with it? Why is woke your enemy? How can you say you are not aganys protests when saying protestors who should be thrown out? In my opinion, anyone not protesting the changes on our government on the direction of tyranny are the ones to be thrown out. But, i believe in the rule of law and they are entitled to their views. Buy, anyone acting violently should be given the rights protected by law and punished if found guilty of a crime.
Seems like a security risk when she's sailing into a war zone and might be smuggling weapons.
@StygianKohlrabi
what matters in genocide is intention. the intent was to destroy the population.

It wasn't nearly big enough to effect the Jewish population. But either way, nobody is defending Hamas.
@BohemianBabe The birth rate in Gaza is equal to the death rate, so if the population stays the same, it's not a genocide. Compare this to the population drops in actual genocides.
@BohemianBabe The people on the Madleen were definitely defending Hamas. I've spoken to people on here whose only problem with Oct. 7 was that it wasn't more effective.

Acting like no one in the pro-Palestinian camp thinks Israel shouldn't exist is naive.

I don’t understand isn’t she loved by the Jews?
@Ferise1 Fixed it. 👍🏻
sree251 · 41-45, M
@BohemianBabe
So then by "race," do you mean something like culture or ethnicity?

No. "Race" has everything to do with you, your being, what you are.
@sree251 So everyone is their own race? 🤔
