Do you think Trump would make US troops invade Canada, Greenland (Denmark) and/or Panama? And what would that mean for US Americans nin your opinion?

Top | New | Old
TexChik · F
No Trump won't invade Canada. He does not have to fire a shot. Canada survives on an unfair trade deal with the US. Trump can and will tariff Canada into negotiations that will keep our border with them closed (from the Canadian side) and to have a much more favorable trade agreement with the US. Greenland is not Denmark, Trump is offering to buy it. If Denmark resists after doing nothing for Greenland for so long, tariffs may change their mind. Panama has violated their treaty with us and allowed China to run the canal. The US built it and now, by the stipulations of the treaty, are the owners again. Panama can fuss all they want and run to the world court, but the US has a case.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@carpediem It really was a bad idea to get rid of the canal. Many say it was the first big bailout for the banks. They had loaned money to central American countries and were never repaid. The US government guaranteed the loans, bad idea again.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@nudistsueaz Lots of bad ideas from lots of bad presidents.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@carpediem You don't have to tell me, we have lived with two of the last three. Lucky we got Trump back when we did. 🙏
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
We can only hope that those in uniform understand and remember that their oath is to the Constitution, as the Generals and former Generals in his first term did. And the Uniform Code of Military Justice only requires obedience to lawful orders; not any off the wall demand from someone up the chain of command.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@dancingtongue Don't worry the military will do just fine.
MarthannBann888 · 70-79, F
@dancingtongue

The Uniform Code of Military Conduct DOES NOT PERMIT GENERALS TO TELEPHONE FOREIGN ADVERSARIES TO WARN THEM OF WHAT TRUMP MIGHT DO.
That is called HIGH TREASON.
You get that Gen. Milley! Enjoy your pardoned retirement.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@MarthannBann888 Then why did the countries set up that communication link to preclude misunderstandings of intent, and before #45 let alone #47?

So far, PRESIDENT Trump has ordered the bombing of an ISIS headquarters in Somalia.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/trump-says-he-ordered-airstrikes-isis-leaders-somalia

President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he ordered military airstrikes in Somalia, taking out a senior ISIS attack planner and other terrorists the planner had recruited.

The strikes come just weeks after an ISIS-inspired terrorist killed 14 people and injured dozens more after he plowed a truck into New Year's Eve revelers in New Orleans.

"These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"Our Military has targeted this ISIS attack planner for years, but Biden and his cronies wouldn’t act quickly enough to get the job done. I did!" Trump wrote.

"The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!’" Trump wrote.

President Trump has also ordered troops to the southern border to stop the invasion from THESE animals.

Any dealings he has with Canada, Greenland (where by the way there is an America military base) ,Panama will be done with the threat of tariffs.

That makes Trump the most RESPONSIBLE president in US history when it comes to use of the military. During his last term there wer ZERO shooting wars throughout the world, and PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST (for the first time in history.)

No other president,Nazi or Republican can boast of such a record.
MarthannBann888 · 70-79, F
@Reason10

Gosh, you should be a diplomat! Did you know that the taxpayers of this country pay much of the Canadian military expenses? Cheaper to put it all in one, but when do you people care about the money people work so hard to come by. Denmark doesn't develop Greenland at all. They just sit back and let us shoulder the expense of the country and let if stay in its present state of backwardness.

Like Trump always does, he is looking for a way to benefit people. Of course, I know you will be derisive about him, but I don't see you doing better.

And there were plenty more shooting wars and conficts, mostly in Africa and the middle east. I'll just give you one more; the one where Tяump pulled out US troops that were protecting our Kurdish allies from Turkey. But Tяump was worried about his personal investment in Tяump Towers Istanbul, so he pulled the US troops and sacrificed our allies.

The Syrian civil war was a shooting war.
Chaos in Northern Syria

The civil war entered a new stage in October 2019 after U.S. President Donald J. Trump removed the roughly one thousand U.S. troops supporting Kurdish fighters on the Syria-Turkey border. The surprise move cleared the way for Turkey’s Erdogan to launch a military operation there. Aiming to push Kurdish forces back to establish a twenty-mile-deep buffer zone for returned refugees, Turkish troops and their Syrian rebel allies seized towns and villages, causing hundreds of thousands of people to flee. The SDF turned to the Syrian government for help, allowing regime soldiers to reenter areas that had been held by the Kurds for years. Russian troops also entered the region to support the Syrian government.

PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
No new American shooting wars.

And no Russia/Ukraine war either.

Adolf Biden's weakness and incompetence has put us back to a WWIII footing.

I don’t think he would invade a NATO country, but he would blackmail them. He’s not really interested in Canada. Panama probably will make some concessions to avoid the worst of Trump’s bullying.
Jokersswild · 22-25VIP
Not Canada. I'm sure those Canadian Truckers could probably hold off the U.S. military by themselves. Greenland and Panama would be easy targets. I think the U.S. will try to do something similar in Greenland like what we did in Hawaii. Have American businessmen buy up land and industry and force the government to join the U.S. Greenlanders don't seem to understand the severity of the situation or maybe they don't care about freedom or their own sovereignty.

1. Even the Republican-controlled Congress won't approve the funding.

2. Top generals might refuse orders to attack a NATO ally as they could be tried for war crimes.

3. Trump will continue to bully Denmark about Greenland.

4. Mid-terms are only 21 months away.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@beckyromero Do they still need the Congress? https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/us/politics/elon-musk-doge-federal-payments-system.html. And besides, we all know they'll bend the knee if it comes to that, nobody will go against Trump.
One of the few good things I've been able to say about Trump is that he seems to be reversing a decades-long trend of military interference internationally. If Trump were to invade Canada or even practice gunboat diplomacy, that would be a reversal of his own.
Yeah, I know, it's looking like anything's possible w/him these days. But I'm starting to wonder if saying anything is possible w/him while doing is another matter
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
given the disparity between the size and budget of our military vs theirs, it would be like the US invasion of Grenada...

As for Panama, their control of canal is contingent on the agreement that they'd remain neutral/not succumb to foreign influence, an agreement that they've broken by allowing Chinese investment...
I haven't thought about it.. i hope not
helenS · 36-40, F
Typically, US acquisitions were purchased, such as Louisiana, Florida, or Alaska.
Not sure about Texas though.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@helenS Texas won their independence from Mexico. That's why they are the Lone Star State.

CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Panama, entirely possible even though Panama is basically a US client state already.

Canada and Denmark, nah. I don't consider it a remote possibility in the current geopolitical state.
@CountScrofula The UK has even deployed troops to Greenland as if to say "no really, don't do this."
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
No, never happen.
Has any legal American citizen had any of their rights taken away today?
NO?
And you still believe anything the liberal media has to monger? 🤦
@RoguishEyes Show me where it says discrimination of blacks should be allowed....because they are black. Show me where it says a puppet can create as made up office to take over the entire finances of the United States and name a person who paid out $250 million to bribe him into office,,, in a position Congress never approved of. Show me where it says anyone Republicans are afraid will vote Dem should be blocked from voting? Show me in the Constitution where a dictator wanna be can cancel the 14th Amendment.........and do his best to cancel the 24th Amendment so he can name himself lifetime dictator. Show me where it says the orange dumbass can tell media because you reported truth about me I want to cancel your broadcast license to violate the 1st Amendment. Or buy people's jobs out when no Congressional money has been allocated to pay them. Want more?? I can do this all day long and trust me the orange hand puppet has given us plenty to ask about in the last 16 days. Like for instance where does it say someone delusional has the power to threaten to invade sovereign nations to take them over..............like Panama.....Gaza.....Greenland...Canada???
@anythingoes477 So the answer is...you can't show me. I didn't think so.

No, that would never happen for Canada and Greenland.
Trump is not going to invade
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Giving such orders would likely lead to trumps removal as unfit..😷
The US military has already been convinced to follow unlawful orders including war crimes so they will do whatever they are told.
@Mmiker Nope, just facts. Not my fault if facts hurt your feelings.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow tRUMP is doing everything he can think of to bury actual facts and replace them with his delusions & hallucinations (i.e. every time he says a lot of people told me & when he starts by quoting an imaginary person saying something to him that begins with…” Mr. President…”) and his attempts to shut down the reliable media outlets…

Although it’s blatantly obvious to anyone of normal or higher intelligence that tactic does work with his low information voters/cultists.

IOW: he brainwashes them by repeating his ludicrous lies over and over ad nauseam…
@KunsanVeteran And unfortunately his cult followers believe anything he says.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
I think he will invade Palestine. I think the rest is bluster.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow To me thats a conspiracy theory.. I mean all US politicians and their families are corrupt. Thats the nature of the beast..But some do their actual job, while being corrupt. Some dont..😷

Mmiker · 46-50, M
@fanuc2013 TRUE
With Trump as President, since the military is voluntary, anyone serving now, should just resign and walk out.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@independentone That is the right answer. but it also means that the only ones left are trump stooges..😷
@independentone In most cases they cannot do that. You can make a conscientious objection but that doesn’t usually result in dismissal from service earlier than the expiration of whatever your term of service happens to be and might even result in punishment.

For instance, look up Captain John Buck—an Air Force ER doctor who refused the Anthrax vaccine. He was stationed at Keesler AFB at the time. There’s lots of other examples.
No. The USA dominates using NATO and the world Bank, using debt and imposing austerity, requiring war.
Floating a few imperialism balloons is just Washington saying yup to the population of conservatives.

@anythingoes477 The military can always say "NO."

For instance, if I was in the military today and ordered to go fight for israel I would tell my comanding officer to go F___ himself even if it meant that I would be facing an immediate firing squad.

@HootyTheNightOwl If you are unable to behave in a proper way, then you should rather stay in elementary school. And it also shows that your parents are not really that bright either. But maybe that are even twins. No wonder about their offspring. I have no time for backward people like you.
@DiStefano Hahaha!!! Really??? It seems like I massively overestimated your intelligence levels if you think that everyone else is just going to sit and watch Trump invade Canada... especially when so many of us remember WWII.
