Are you a Republican weirdo in favor of book bans and anti-LGBTQ legislation? ~

How do these things contribute to “making America great again,” and for whom?

I'm actually a moderate Independent, who doesn't believe in banning books, but what legislation does the LGBTQ community need that they don't already have under the Constitution of the United States?

And I'm not being facetious.

@easterniowegin you have been the one attacking me. You started this argument. I gave you every opportunity to agree that a physician is the appropriate one to make a decision about medical care without fear of prosecution. You have no right to tell me how to practice of meditation. You are using classic right wing arguments.
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 where did i attack you? What did i say about you?
I said you were gaslighting...that was true. I didn't say anything about you personally...just called out your tactic.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@easterniowegin good by. Before i sink to your level. I only state what I see. You are blinded.
@Askeladd asks
Which books are they asking to be banned?
Excellent question! I have here a collection of books ALREADY banned by republicans.

Some books banned in Florida schools

"From July 2021 to June 2022, PEN America’s Index of School Book Bans lists 2,532 instances of individual books being banned, affecting 1,648 unique book titles."

I don't know WHY Florida banned so many math books, but they did.
May 6, 2022 — A Florida Department of Education review of 132 math books has led to the banning of more than 40% of them.
https://www.baynews9.com/fl/tampa/news/2022/05/06/florida-bans-more-than-40--oif-math-books-after-review

Florida passed a law in 2022 that said educators could be prosecuted for 3rd degree felony if they display any unapproved books.

And nobody knew what had been approved.

So the only safe way for educators to stay out of jail is to HIDE ALL THE BOOKS!!!

Ok....I get it that you religious fanatics can't handle some of the sensitive topics in today's world, after all, it's 2024....not 1954.

Don't ban books. That makes you just like the Nazis and their book burnings.

Allow me to offer a rational solution and compromise.

Isolate the 'questionable (in your opinion) books' in a section of the library. All books in this section would require a parent to sign an an approval note for the student to access and read them.

Any problems?

@JSul3 Saw this here yesterday-seems pretty relevant:

@SW-User The pen is mightier than the sword . .

@SunshineGirl Please let me know when a pen is used to murder 20 students and 6 staff members at a Connecticut elementary school……

Great question!
Bumbles · 56-60, M
Progressives also ban books, though.
RedBaron · M
@Bumbles That’s an important distinction.

@JSul3 Rejection of a white savior i.e., Atticus Finch. Deeply troubling.

@Bumbles A man who knew right from wrong and stood up for right.

Truthfully, I have not read the novel in years, but seen the film, many times. Harper Lee said the film was an excellent adaption of her book. Censorship likely made the studio tone down or edit sone aspects. There is no doubt that the novel is more graphic than the film could ever be.

Which books are they asking to be banned?
Thrust · 56-60, M
@RedBaron

That it happened and trying to ignore it by banning books

There are no banned books in America. If someone really wanted a tranny how to guide they have to go get it themselves. Boo-Hoo, the schools can't bring them in and force it on vulnerable children

Cut the 2 bit drama queening
RedBaron · M
@Thrust Remember when I asked for your opinion and two bit name calling?

Me neither.

Cut out your need to be judgmental.

Age appropriateness ≠ banning
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@easterniowegin parents cannot review every book available. Tell me what book teaches kindergarteners to perform oral sex!

Your IQ measures single digits eh?
SW-User
@Thrust You must have a massive IQ. Why don't you tell us what Constitutional rights you lost yesterday when maybe 10-20-30 gay couple got married somewhere in the U.S. I know the trumper version is that the sky is falling and the world as we know it will end when this happens...so how did yesterday personally change your life?

Or.....is the best you can do is try REALLY hard to memorize a 5-6 word phrase to respond to everything you can't think out on your own?

Please.............tell us how YOUR life changed yesterday? Or the day before?. Or hey...you pick a day and tell us how a black person........ or a Mexican applying for asylum..........or a gay couple getting married ruined your life. Or maybe how anything on the MAGA Boogie Man List affected you. Like Mickey Mouse? Or maybe CRT that only exists in MAGA conspiracy theories. Or Taylor Swift? The list of horrible things to fear is so long, isn't it? ;-) Just pick one.

False linkage. Most gay people don't see the pro trans/grooming as a right and oppose the exposure of kids to adult printed material.
