Which books are they asking to be banned?
FORMERLYbatovn · 61-69, M
@RedBaron those are not "political issues" they have banned statues, paintings, and books to appease butthurt people who are offended by things they don't even know anything about.(Look up the history of "aunt Jemima") I grew up in the 70s washing All in the family, The Jeffersons, maude I watched blazing saddles multiple times, and you know what everybody laughed because we were willing to laugh at ourselves. Everybody wants to be offended for other people now. Erasing history just means you're destined to have repeat it

@FORMERLYbatovn Slavery is a significant and shameful part of American history.
That it happened and trying to ignore it by banning books and teaching about is offensive to everyone, not just people of color.

@RedBaron AGAIN!! NOBODY is suggesting banning books currently!!! Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and other books were banned for using the "N" word and a few other references that were commonplace when they were written. As a history buff myself, the banning of books, statues, plays, and syrup, butter, songs and cartoon characters from decades ago, because some "woke" whiner is offended is asinine!! It's a perpetually offended society that calls for that ....but politicians from both parties are gonna go along with it because they want to get reelected. Governments has been abusing people for hundreds of years. I give you Native Americans, the Irish, the Italians, the Japanese, Africans, the list is endless.....the solution is a constructive conversation amongst the everyday citizens of ALL ethnicities and races to understand that the people in power want us divided, because if we ever unite, they would be run outta town on a rail....I don't seek an argument, but I truly believe that few things are actually a conservative/liberal, or Republican/Democrat issues, it's more of a power and control thing by those in power.

@FORMERLYbatovn No? Think again.
A group called Moms for Liberty “has advocated against school curricula that mention LGBTQ+ rights, race and ethnicity, critical race theory, and discrimination.
“They have also called for banning certain books on these topics from school curricula and libraries and have disrupted school boards as part of their advocacy.”

@RedBaron and the chances of that gaining a foothold and amounting to anything is slim. As a christian, I am against banning books.. because if you ban one book, that opens up Pandora's box to ban dozens and dozens of other books. Once you open a door to something you have to be very very careful because that's a president. I am also fully fine with prayer in schools.. but Christians need to realize that that means it opens the door for Muslim prayers for Taoism for atheism for Hinduism or anything else.. and you have to remember that in Nazi Germany the government banned books it wasn't started by some little group of mamas trying to protect Little Johnny from finding out the realities of real life. And there is a huge difference have a good evening sir

@FORMERLYbatovn But I was quoting from a summary of Project 2025, which has a chance to be implemented if Trump is elected again and Republicans control the Senate and the House of Representatives.
FORMERLYbatovn · 61-69, M
@RedBaron I understand, from what I've read of project 2025 it is the same basic program that Democrats and Republicans have been doing since I was too young to vote. Anytime any politicians are more interested in power and control then they are about doing what's best for the country in the citizens there's a problem.

@RedBaron
There are no banned books in America. If someone really wanted a tranny how to guide they have to go get it themselves. Boo-Hoo, the schools can't bring them in and force it on vulnerable children
Cut the 2 bit drama queening
