Are you a Republican weirdo in favor of book bans and anti-LGBTQ legislation? ~

How do these things contribute to “making America great again,” and for whom?

Progressives also ban books, though.

@Bumbles

Which books?
Bumbles · 56-60, M
@calicuz Huck Fin, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Of Mice and Mice, some of Dr. Seuss, and the general move against the canon in higher ed.

@Bumbles Progressives? Where...???
RedBaron · M
@Bumbles I read all of those. They weren’t banned.

@RedBaron I wasn’t speaking of a nationwide ban at a time certain. It’s certain school districts. Overall, yes, the right wing seems to ban more, but the left is not pure in this regard.

@Bumbles Examples of the left banning books please.

Found it: CA banned To Kill A Mockingbird due to racism.

@Bumbles That’s an important distinction.

@JSul3 Rejection of a white savior i.e., Atticus Finch. Deeply troubling.

@Bumbles A man who knew right from wrong and stood up for right.

Truthfully, I have not read the novel in years, but seen the film, many times. Harper Lee said the film was an excellent adaption of her book. Censorship likely made the studio tone down or edit sone aspects. There is no doubt that the novel is more graphic than the film could ever be.
