Question for anti-trumpers

Would you be okay with a second Trump term if the House and Senate were solidly blue for the next 4 years?
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
My opposition to Trump actually has little to do with policy, given that he barely accomplished anything his first term and didn't even bother having a platform in his re-election bid.

I have always supported candidates that have strong moral character, and Trump is a disgusting human being. He's defrauded working-class contractors, cheated on each of his wives, has over 2 dozen S.A allegations, was good friends with Epstein, tried to overturn the results of a fair election, and is now openly accepting bribes from oil and financial execs in his fundraising efforts. Someone like that shouldn't have any kind of authority

@HoraceGreenley I have a BA in Economics. That's literally a degree in studying economic systems, theories, and policies.

You're relying on one basic concept they teach in introductory courses to explain the way the real economy works. There's a reason why your line of thinking is called "voodoo economics". You might firmly believe it works like magic, but in reality it's all a crock of BS
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@HoraceGreenley The reason I asked you for a source is because there is no quantitative economic literature that supports the claim you're making. Study after study debunks the idea that the spending of rich people propels economic growth

No Trump would simply ignore Congress. Enact project 2025 and never leave office.

@HoraceGreenley I am from a much more advanced planet. I am here to try and assist primitive humanoid life forms such as yourself.

I'm aware of that. Sometimes a colloquialism is more effective

Nice try narcissist
As opposed to what? A second Biden term but with a solidly red House and Senate?

Considering that Congress is dysfunctional and the presidency is far too powerful, I prefer it the other way around - Biden as president with a completely dysfunctional Republican Congress, like we've seen in the House since 2022.

It's not supposed to be this way. The Constitution spends a lot more time describing the structure and powers of Congress than the other branches, with most of the verbiage about the House. The House is supposed to be the purest expression of the peoples' will, since representatives come from smaller districts and can be replaced every two years.

No. Trump has engaged in treasonous behavior. He incited a violent attack on
Conress on Jan. 6, 2021. He has openly called for suspending or terminating the constitution. He openly made a death threat against general Mark Miley.
Trump should be arrested and tried for high crimes against the United States. Also, forbidden to run for any elected office.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@badminton that’s my thought. Even if Trump was technically powerless, It would send a poor example for the head of state to be a criminal who undermines our system of government. IMO the President’s most important role is to inspire and promote optimism.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@badminton
How do you suspend the Constitution?

Absurd

No. Hes going to make a laughing stock of America around the globe, worse than before, because last time Americans had the excuse that they didnt know for sure how bad he would be..😷
I doubt it would matter because he has publicly stated on numerous occasions that his intentions are no less than dictatorship.
RedBaron · M
Trump cannot be trusted with the Heritage Foundation ready to roll out Project 2025.
James25 · 61-69, M
@RedBaron indeed
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
But with the recent SCOTUS decisions, how long would it remain "blue" before the members were arrested by Presidential decree?
Carla · 61-69, F
Absolutely not
Repete · 61-69, M
I wouldn’t be ok if he was used car dealer let alone him even being close to being president again.

I can’t see where he did much before except have a wall built free ( because Mexico paid for it) he is such a truthful and honest and brave person. 🙃
Ynotisay · M
It would need to be two thirds for it to matter. And even then, a complicit SC and Executive Order privilege would render that moot.
No. His plans would be supported by the SCotUS, his unthinking ever-angry storm troopers, his hand-picked White Supremacists
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
No, particularly after SCOTUS has given future presidents the get out of jail free card!
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
No, I would NOT be okay with it.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
No, and here's why. He's already corrupted the Supreme Court, and appointed numerous corrupt federal judges. Even with a solid blue House and Senate, he could do irreparable damage.
thisguy20 · 41-45, M
Absolutely NOT.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
That’s a pretty likely outcome to be honest .
