If a conservative doesn't like abortions, he demands a law against it. If a liberal doesn't like abortions, she doesn't have one.
If a conservative doesn't like gay marriage, he demands that it be outlawed. If a liberal doesn't like gay marriage, he doesn't get gay married.
If a conservative doesn't like that a NFL player is kneeling to protest something, he cheers when the player is cancelled. If a liberal doesn't like that a NFL player is kneeling to protest something, he still thinks the player should be allowed to play football.
A conservative thinks only his own religion should be given consideration in the public square. A liberal thinks all religions should be given equal consideration.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he demands that the government take care of him because he "deserves" it. He just doesn't think anyone else should get help.
If a conservative politician is caught violating the Constitution, conservatives ignore it. If a liberal politician is caught violating the Constitution, liberals hold them accountable.
The exception is immigration law because of the wide-open border, which has permitted the influx of millions of illegals, totally swamping the capabilities of the feds.
@Thinkerbell There is no "open border." But you can thank your orange lord and savior, Donald Trump, for telling the Republicans in Congress not to pass a border bill this year, to avoid helping Biden look good. Meanwhile, the Republicans are planning to impeach Mayorkas for not doing his job, even though they're the ones who refused to give him the funds to do so. Even a staunch conservative like Ken Buck isn't signing onto that.
Reminds me of the father who tells his three kids "ok I'll pay you $100 today if you mow the lawn, trim and water it, clean the house inside and out, and wash the car."
The kids say they can go for that. Then the dad says "on one condition - your brother here doesn't want to work but you must share with him anyway."
Two kids say "no way, we're not sharing with someone who is lazy and does nothing" and so the dad replies with "welcome to socialism, now get to work!"
The irony of what you said was that the farther end you go to on a political spectrum, the more extreme. The far right tends to be more nationalistic the farther down it goes and the farther down the rabbit hole you go, the more of a nut you seem to be. But yet this post is only about liberals because clearly by your own statement if a conservative doesn't like something, they just don't bother and act respectfully. But the news and everything else and the actions people have taken say otherwise 🤣
Some of these are somewhat true and some of these are outright false.
I'm liberal and pro gun rights, I'm also liberal and pro meat.. ketovore. I do support hunting and regenerative agriculture. The one thing I agree with vegans on is factory farming but that's about it. I do think vegans are too political for me to really think their diet is "just" a diet, they even say so themselves. I support unions and think we should have more of them, even for sex work with the only exception being police unions because of the imbalance of power but I also support small business owners and farmers. I think that you can be in an open relationship and be happy, I also think you can be in a traditionalist relationship and be happy. I think there should be more of a push for locally owned small businesses too 💁♀️
But there's things that are just out right false:
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.
That's not true. I remember snowflakegate at Starbucks with conservatives, heck a bunch of authors like Martin Luther King were banned at school libraries until it was reinstated during the critical race theory panic at schools. There were over 300 black authors banned. There's literally so many events of both political parties wanting things banned just cos hurt feelings.
Conservatives will teach their kids their own values which is technically indoctrination by their own definition and then shame liberals for doing the same.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him..
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.. A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
I feel like both those statements are alluding to right winged propaganda of "if you support welfare, you want to give everything away for free." Which is the same thing as vegans saying "if you eat meat, you support murder." It's distorting people's original positions when there's more that's talked about and issues can hardly be summed up as simple as that.
Furthermore, more conservatives are on welfare than not, I know because my state is a redneck state and most of you are on social programs so I know your statement is outright false. It's hilarious because if you looked at their facebook pages they have all the right winged buzzwords and memes on it but they'll use state money and not work.
Why? Because being a liberal or a conservative clearly isn't a character personality trait save except for stereotypes which exist for a reason but it's a very small minority.
Secondly, most homeless people are thinking about either hustling or food, like they don't really worry about being conservative or liberal. You'd never know who was conservative or liberal cos they're more worried about other things. I'm not saying that people can't be political but they're usually too worried to go engage in debates online at any large amount of time and have the first world privilege of worrying if some stranger on the internet is pro choice or believes in God.
You can be conservative or liberal all you wanted to, guaranteed that goes all out the window with poverty.
Most homeless are trapped within a cycle, homeless shelters will entrap you, most jobs won't give you a chance, lack of mental health resources and stigma all contribute to homeless people's problems. I would love for you to recognize this fact.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and Jesus silenced.
That's not true because the United States has a long track record of discriminating against other religions and non religious people in Govt positions, schools and other things. These things can be looked up quite easily on Google.
If you're talking about atheists, there's conservative atheists out there too just like there's conservative gay people and conservative trans people.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation; while waiting in line at the food pantry proudly displaying a trump 2024 bumper sticker.
@Torsten So you agree that Musk's success is a combination of luck, having rich parents, and some skill in delegating work to competent people?
I find it hilarious how conservatives claim to hate Big Tech and EVs, yet idolize a man who made his fortune in both fields. Oh, and conservatives claim to hate government spending, but love how the government pays Musk to build rockets that keep blowing up.
Musk is the most overrated man of the 21st century, and I will crack open some champagne when he is forced to unload Twitter to Amazon or Google for pennies on the dollar.
@Burnley123 Again, I full agree. I too could sit down and try to formulate an intelligent, thoughtful, and articulate response, but I really don't care. Others did so beautifully such as @SatanBurger 😄
Well, maybe it's just for those somewhat ignorant of higher education, LOL!!!
Seems the 'daughter' wasn't attending ivy-league Brown University, where every course can be taken satisfactory/no credit basis. And even if you opt for letter grades, there are no +/- gradations. Harvard, Yale, and Columbia have implemented versions of this pass/fail option as well. Many other schools may have it; the reader is welcome to continue researching the topic.
Meanwhile, Reed College, Hampshire College, Sarah Lawrence College, Antioch University, and several others offer no letter grades whatsoever.
And some of our most elite technical schools, such as MIT & Cal Tech have pass/fail for freshman year. So does Johns Hopkins.
Yeah, if you swallowed the premise of this little story, it just shows you don't know much about higher education in the US.
I'm not sure why any liberal - whom you seem to pre-suppose is likely to be non-religious - would feel "deeply ashamed" of a close relative or describe their behaviour as "evil".
And the slight issue with your simplistic correlation between a university degree course and the world of work, is that the former is (normally) a wholly meritocratic endeavour carefully scrutinised for fairness, equality of access, plagiarism, academic rigour, etc. In real life there is no governing council to ensure that wealth is distributed according to talent and effort, hence the young lady's strongly held opinion 😐
If this childish nonsense is the best you have to offer, then it just shows you have no legitimate argument and you're actually doing your cause no favours, because you just sound desperate.
It is exactly overly-simplistic shit like this that conservatives believe even though it has little or no basis in reality. This is why you have a well-deserved reputation for being low-IQ voters.
@IM5688 The Big Lie is that Trump won. There is not now and has never been a shred of evidence that Trump won, despite over 60 failed lawsuits alleging so. Even Trump has admitted privately that he lost.
Trump won't be president following the election this fall. Americans do not support Trump. A minority of anti-American racist, white supremacist, low education voters do, but they can't carry the election. Will you be committing violence when Trump calls for it following his next November loss?
@IM5688 That won't happen, but there will be Trump violence this year by people of your ilk. Trump loves his Cultists committing violence in his name. That's why he waited so long on January 6 to issue even a tepid statement calling off the right wing goons in the Capitol. He will undoubtedly call for it again, and they will respond as he knows they will.
@CountScrofula I like how you said fucking fine haha. If you didn't list all the ways Republicans also have banned things I was gonna chime in and ask you along with Shadowfire and TrashCat 🤣
I agree with your basic analysis, but I think you do miss a fundamental point.Everything you posted applies to LEFTISTS,not necessarily liberals. Those are two very different groups.Liberals don't agree with most of what the leftists believe, but they have been brainwashed into voting for them.
@Handfull1 well, considering that there is two females in your age range at where I work, then I doubt very much that I work with you. Since both of them follow the orange idiot.
@Vin53 That's the main problem in a nutshell. Fair and Square.
Because every election we've intervened with throughout the World since the 1820's, comes into question.
The outcomes of 2 elections that were not in our favor in the World was the one in Cuba during the early 1960's and the one in Venezuela in the mid 1990's.
@JimboSaturn Both sides do, but only the Right does so on a systemic level. There are leftists, liberals, and conservatives who want to ban speech they disagree with. But only among conservatives is this view so common, that their politicians and pundits say the same thing.
How did she get a 4.0 and get taken down by such a sophomoric comparison? She should have pointed out that wealth is scarce and naturally generated while GPA is artificially generated
@jackjjackson Here's the problem with that. From the 12th Amendment: "The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves."
So if the election comes down to Florida, like it did in 2000, and the Republican ticket wins the state, the electors could vote for either Trump for president or Rubio for VP, but not both. You could end up with a President Biden/VP Rubio or a President Trump/VP Harris. It's unlikely but possible. It's why Dick Cheney moved from Texas to Wyoming, so he and Bush would be from different states. Trump isn't going to move back to New York and Rubio is a Florida senator, so he's not going anywhere. This is also why DeSantis won't be Trump's VP, or Laura Loomer, or any other Floridian.
