Depends on who did what. Their mere presence at the Capitol was not a crime. Protesting the election results was not a crime. When the police escorted some individuals inside, they certainly didn't commit a crime. Those who truly rioted and caused damage, deserve punishment.
But even 3 years later, we still don't know exactly why Pelosi & McConnell ignored the escalating threat assessment, and denied the Capitol police request for Nat Guard security, or why the FBI had so many assets in the crowd, why the J6 committee destroyed evidence, or why the video of Trump's speech calling for the protestors to be peaceful and to go home was deleted off Twitter and the internet 5 minutes after it was posted. Too many unanswered questions.

@BizSuitStacy Exactly

@BizSuitStacy Agree
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
Not at all. They visited violence on the capital in an effort to stop the certification of the election on behalf of a potus attempting to illegally hold on to power.
Hang the lot of them.
Hang the lot of them.

@Zaphod42 The problem is that there's a lot of conflicting stories out there by the Capitol police themselves, along with video footage of the police letting some people in and what loiks like giving them tours, but are those videos actually Jan 6, or some other day? The whole thing is massively discombobulated.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Zaphod42 I can't see who it is, either. And since I don't block unless I'm forced to, I have to assume this person blocked me, probably over a similar conversation.
tindrummer · M
@LordShadowfire ditto - so many of them are cowards
4meAndyou · F
Remember the guy with the buffalo horn head dress? He was actually escorted through the building BY the Capitol Police. It was like a tour. BUT he was a memorable figure, so there he sits, in federal jail....and Ray Epps, the FBI undercover ops guy who basically DIRECTED people to riot, is sitting at home on his ranch in Arizona. Mission accomplished.
BizSuitStacy · M
@4meAndyou hey...you're contradicting the insurrection narrative with facts!
4meAndyou · F
@BizSuitStacy I'd seriously like to shove an insur up the rectum of Nasty Pelosi and all those other lying "C" words.l
trollslayer · 46-50, M
Sounds like giving "aid and comfort" to insurrectionists....
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@trollslayer Are they insurrectionists or protesters? May depend on who is broadcasting.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@nudistsueaz Depends on what their goal was. If it was just to "trash the place", then a protest. If it was to "hang mike pence" than it was an insurrection. My opinion - once you have violently breached the doors to a building where an election is being certified - your goal is no longer to protest but to change the outcome of an election - it is now an insurrection, by definition.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Yes, they have been denied due process
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Patriot96 Do you ever pull your head out of Trump's ass long enough to fact-check your bullshit?
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
@LordShadowfire i was looking for an intelligent democrat
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Patriot96 You wouldn't know an intelligent Democrat if one became president, dealt with the COVID pandemic, passed a new infrastructure bill, and brought unemployment in the U.S. to the lowest it's been in half a century.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Not really into pardons for traitors.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Yes. Unless they engaged in violence towards others or committed other violent offenses.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Vin53 Maybe. Depends on the circumstances.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@LeopoldBloom Trespassing? That's a Federal crime worthy of prison?
dale74 · M
@justanothername see the place you're getting your news is not telling you the truth you should not trust that new source.

I live in a red state that is decided by an electoral college system. In other words, my vote and who or what I support means shit in this country. My vote doesn't count. The state always goes red. So what or who I support means shit
BigImo · 22-25, F
I'm sure this will be a perfectly normal and civil thread
RageAgainstTheMachine · 36-40, M
@BigImo Indubitably civil.
Corporalcolleague · 61-69, M
No they broke the laws and were convicted by a jury of their peers.
dale74 · M
Yes, they did not prosecute any of the rioters or people that killed people in the riots
BohemianBabe · M
@dale74
See, this is what I mean. There's no evidence that Biden took money from those countries, but we do know that Trump had a secret bank account in China, plus his own family admitted that most of their money comes from Russia. The conspiracy theories about Biden are made in order to deflect away from Trump. It's actually Trump who is taking money from China and Russia.
If you really cared about this, you would vote Biden, but you don't. Because you don't care about the issues, you just care about Trump as a cult-leader.
I see Biden having done a lot worse than Trump millions of dollars for doing nothing apparently from Russia China Ukraine and who knows where else

@BohemianBabe you need to get your head out of the sand amnd watch something that tells the news not something that protects biden. I would wire command European news or even Al Jazeera news or Telemundo.
BohemianBabe · M
@dale74 So when Eric Trump says that most of the money from their family business come from Russia, you think he's lying?
When Trump said the reason he had that secret Chinese bank account was because he "was a businessman" and he was just "doing business," you think that's ok?
Again, there is NO evidence that Biden got money from other countries. But if you are concerned with conflicts of interest, Trump directly got money from Russia and China. And remember, when the emoluments clause was brought up to Trump, he called it "that phony emoluments clause."
You don't really care about these issues. All you care about is the Trump Cult.

Why not?
Bumbles · 51-55, M
And stop current investigations. It’s what America wants, apparently.
tindrummer · M
@Bumbles 🙄 baloney!
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@tindrummer Basing my opinion on the polls as Trump is well ahead. I’m not a fan, personally.
