@StrictSouthernHOH The post is about the tariffs. So for the purpose of the exercise it doesnt matter if the item lands for 5 cents. If it has a 50 cent tariff on it, that 50 cents is a tax that goes to Washington. A tax the consumer pays..😷

@JimboSaturn Yes.. It encourages slackness in the competitive market. Ex the military harware, how many industries does America have that make and distribute globally, like a Toyota, or BMW? Actually there are a few. Mostly dealing chemicals that are outside the US to skirt environmental controls..😷

@JimboSaturn tariffs are a punishment to countries that do not allow access to their markets, while demanding access to USA markets. it is incentive for US manufacturers to compete with foreign ones. [b]it worked. [/b] China was only willing to negotiate after suffering the consequences of tariffs. if you have a better idea i would love to hear it. So would Anthony Blinken, who is stating nearly verbatim everything that Trump has said regarding this subject.

@Roundandroundwego the purpose of tariffs is to end the abuse of the markets. China, India and most of the world employ them for that purpose. It is not controversial when [b]they[/b] use tariffs as part of a strategy to strengthen their nations. It is controversial in America because American people are ignorant and cannot use their own brains to decipher the truth, that they are being misled egregiously, wantonly and maliciously by political leaders.
