I've been saying this all along. There are not two parties, they are all the one percent and members of The Social Elite. They keep us divided so they retain power.
Don't love Biden but he got us a giant infrastructure package, a shit ton of anti-global warming initiatives that help working families & American industry, lower prescription drug prices, and a federal law that protects marriage freedom. He got us out of Afghanistan, and has responded to the fascist invasion of Ukraine in a strong but measured way.
Also appreciate the fact that he tried to close the tax loopholes and secure pre-K for working families. He's not a dictator though, so he couldn't do that shit all on his own. Oh yeah, and he proposed a sweeping immigration bill that Congress ignored.
@BlueVeins And it will be a miserable showing, because a few vociferous Republicans and 10's of 5 loyal followers aren't enough to win an election; you have to remember, for all the flack Biden gets, Trump's just as old and tired He failed to deliver his flock to the Promised Land. They'll find another who's more than happy to step in.
I'm not American but it strikes me that you are asking the wrong question.
Without bringing in Trump hatred
It's a massive caveat, given that about half of Americans despise Donald Trump and would have voted for absolutely anyone else to stop him from being President. Nobody thinks that Biden is a great President. A large number of people think that he is OK. He won the Democratic Primary because he was seen as less controversial and less of a risk than Bernie Sanders. He won the Presidential election because he was not Donald Trump.
He might not be able to finish all of his sentences but - given the constraints of the legislative chambers - his administration has done a competent job from a liberal perspective.
You ask two questions. The first one disturbs me: why is Biden still president?
Are you implying that a president should be kicked out of office simply because the people who voted for the other guy dislike him?
Next November, you and the rest of Biden's critics will have a chance to vote again. That is the way we do things in a democracy. We do not stage coups.
@acpguy I’ve yet to hear anything that he’s ever done, that’s worthy of impeachment. I hear a lot of hearsay, accusations, and innuendo, but I’ve never heard anything solid.
I never said anything about trump did i ... you fucking assumed
Once more, learn English. You said:
my health care has cost me more and my medications have risen during this administration so I'm NOT sure where your getting your information from
And I gave you answer. Trump? I did not mention his name, I gave you proof that Insulin costs are down from the previous administration. But you fucking assumed.
Seriously, it's all pretty simple but maybe you missed it. The majority of voters (and the Electoral College) put him in office for four (4) years. The end.
You know uncle Sniffer Joe has so much more to offer. Like stumbling up and down more airplane steps, keeping more drugs flowing to his psychedelic artistic son Hunter, and appointing more excellent cabinet members who lead by example for your family real soon...
ok as nicely as I can state it, I feel he is being used by others. Biden is clearly not capable of being president. Morally, physically, mentally, ethically he is corrupt.
As someone who voted for him, I can admit this. He wasn’t my first or second choice, and I think he’s a mediocre president, that due to being stonewalled by a very narrow margin in congress, pushback from republicans, as well as some from his own party, he’s forced to govern with one hand tied behind his back. That said, I don’t question his ethics or his sanity. I think he’s someone that conservatives find too liberal, and liberals find too conservative. It wasn’t so much that I was voting for him, as I was voting against Trump. I didn’t want to throw away my vote, by voting for a third party candidate, so here we are. I wish i could say it was more complicated than that.
@RockerDad Quit your whining. Manchin votes with Biden almost every time. Biden and the other commie maggots are upset because Manchin supports the filibuster. In Biden's first 100 days, he signed 60 EOs, 24 reversing Trump policies, including killing the XL pipeline which knocked over the first domino kicking off the hyper inflation and economic decline.
- Signed largest infusion of Federal funds into infrastructure in a decade (the infrastructure bill Trump hinted at, but could not deliver).
- Historical investment in clean energy, that's proceeding without outright killing the fossil fuel industry. This includes the investment in the future of EV and other renewable transportation related initiatives. This is the most significant commitment since the 2015 Paris accord (that Trump killed).
- Mega investment to bring the crucial semiconductor manufacturing industry to the US.
- Unifying the western world, and NATO, to stand up against Russia's attempt to re-colonize parts of the world, Soviet style. This includes his recent trip to Kyiiv.
- Finally getting us out of Afghanistan, and putting an end to the bleed there. The side effects of the pullout were unavoidable, and those who blame him for this, clearly have no understanding that the outcome is the best we could have hoped for. How could we have avoided it? Not to go there in the first place.
- Capping Insulin prices for seniors.
- Codified federal regulations for gay marriage.
- Helped the nation avoid the recession that all economists, and pundits, promised we would now be in the middle of.
- Strong economy.
- Solid progress toward taming the inflation that was inevitable post pandemic.
- Preventing the mid-terms MAGA red wave.
- We are back to almost normal, following the Covid disaster, and travel has bounded back to pre-pandemic levels.
I'm sure this is the data you're looking for, right?
He's making rational decisions that will secure a future for America. The MAGA platform would speed up its destruction for the benefit of only a few billionaires.
@specman communist and socialist are dirty words in America And to say Biden is a communist is totally wrong In the Us the Democrats ( right) and Republicans (right/ extreme right)
@specman according to your logic Germany for example would be a communist country since it's run by parties that are to the left of democrats. You must be very uneducated to call Biden a communist.
he is rational and Democrat and i could list all of his accomplishments but why bother? every time we get a Democrat in office the Republicans destroy whatever progress the president makes or attempts. After seeing what has happened to this country over the past four years (not Biden's fault) ... i am embarrassed to be an American. Everyone has gone insane over having to stay home and actually take care of their families. Politics, war, religious nonsense, women's rights, children's rights, and the treatment of the homeless and foreigners who chose to live here. i just want to cry.
And then i come here stupidly and listen to people argue over things they know nothing about just to argue. you are in front of a device where you can look stuff up...just do it before disagreeing with someone you don't even know.
And back to Biden...don't blame the janitor because the child who had a party before him made a big mess.
@pdockal i don't come out swinging. i only defend myself. you have always attacked me since i started here right after experience project. there is something seriously wrong with you. i defend women, children, the president, dogs, history and you insult me and call me clueless. i know that 90% of what people are taught about history is crap. but you intentionally and cruelly insult anyone that attacks that. pick up a real book and read about the subjects that you hold so dearly. and quit holding up Trump as some Messiah...He is cruel and childish and stupid...and twisted. If they gave a Presidential test (which there should be) Obama would be the only one passing all of it and H Clinton and Jimmy Carter would come in second and third. The rest would probably get an F.
There is one very clear message from the comments here. Liberals are well versed in their party's propaganda. They have every lie well memorized. as well as all the supporting propaganda memorized. I guess that's easy with so many 'news' resources repeating the lies every single day. I don't understand why they can't see how much this is like the Nazi propaganda campaign lauched on the German people in the 30s. I assume this is why liberals shutdown history lessons in schools through their indoctrination arm called the teacher's union. When they win this country, all these people stumping for them will pay the price with the rest of us. It'll be violent, bleek, and just plan sad to see such a great country be defeated from within because of lies and greed, but most of all sheer stupidity.
@DIABLISS I have seen news clips of Trump going to the grave of the Unknown Soldier on a rainy Memorial Day to pay his respect. What do you do on sunny Memorial Day's?
@thedarkside he is told to do so. they have people instructing them on such things every minute of every day. None of them could find their way in the white house without a guide
That's not a legitimate question, so you really aren't serious about this post. Take a government class to figure out why he is still president after being elected to that position
And I personally don't think Biden is such a great president.
@deadgerbil Well, #1. whether he was elected or not is still up for debate by some people. #2. As for the question, why is Biden still president? I've been hearing things about impeaching Biden and/or removing Biden because of his mental decline and/or dementia, since his first week in office, and nothing has changed. So, I ask, why is Biden still president?
@IM5688 because his names NOT TRUMP! If you actually listen to what he has to say you would be impressed with the wisdom age and expierence brings. He is not a self promoter just a public servant dealing with ignorant competition.
I can’t believe how many Americans are so blinkered / brainwashed and indoctrinated, absolutely astonishing, the mainstream media, big tech are doing a really great job, aren’t they,
So...what? We hate this guy and we'll love the next guy? Until we don't because he lied and didn't cater to our pet issue? Until we decide we want to go another way altogether? Until we surrender out of exhaustion to someone who says they've got the answers? Until your buddy is finally elected?
Americans make the terribly self-defeating mistake of rejecting what they have out of hand for the promise of Door #3. Half the time, it's a goat.
@TrashCat do you wear a "build back better" hat , where are you in the crowd of the majority shouting "lets go Brandon" or "Fuck Joe Biden" ? Thats right, your not SEEN ! Fuck Joe Biden
@SisterCatenaLaw you really believe the crap you put out. Trump was one of the greatest presidents of all time. Biden has made us the laughing stock of the world.
@TrashCat looking at your posts… lmao.. no way I could take you seriously… 😂 You have issues that run far deeper than any MAGA person could ever have. 🤡
He is still president because he won the election in 2020, defeating Trump by over 7 million votes, including my vote. We have an electoral process established by the constitution that has severed us well for about 250 years.
He's not, he's a very neutral and uninspiring president though and made some questionable choices, but also improved some things, I think(?). Kinda feels like we'd have been better off with literally anyone else other than Hillary and Trump.
Troll. 3 years of accomplishments have passed and you never saw one of them? 😆 🤣 😂 Either you're in the cult....or live under a rock.....or both. Not too late to find out whats going on around you though. Google "Biden accomplishments so far".......and read something real.....for a change.
@Emjay "HIS" big contributions to debt...is not something a president can do by himself. If Congress does not approve every dime spent in Ukraine......including Republicans.......it is not spent.
@SisterCatenaLaw He can be impeached and rightly so for his dementia, dealings with Ukraine, connection to China and history of having confidential files. Trumps impeachment failed as due to lies pai9d for by Hillary, Shiff and the DNC,
@acpguy trump and pence had files so not different there. Dealings with Ukraine you mean the multi national effort to assist them repel an invasion? Trumps impeachments failed cause of republican majority like they would vote out their choice. thats like trying to convict the ringleader of a bank job when the safe cracker the gun man and the get away driver are the jury.
No, I mean like 22,000,000 lost jobs. You may complain that Trump didn't cause Covid, (true, Trump only botched our response to it) but Biden was still left with the continuing aftermath.
As I said elsewhere, I still think Biden is a mediocre president, but we have historically low unemployment - 3.4%; the lowest in 54 years - as well as more people employed now than before the pandemic.
@ElwoodBlues The Labor Department reported the unemployment rate in May 1969 held steady from April at 3.5 percent; the May jobless rate was later adjusted to 3.4 percent.
US & WORLD ECONOMIES US ECONOMY UNEMPLOYMENT Historical US Unemployment Rate by Year Compare unemployment to inflation and GDP since 1929 By Kimberly Amadeo Updated on December 6, 2022 Reviewed by Erika Rasure Fact checked by Taylor Tompkins In This Article In This Article How Unemployment Tracks Recessions How the US Fights High Unemployment US Unemployment Rates by Year Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) PHOTO: THE BALANCE / JULIE BANG Since, 1929, the U.S. unemployment rate has fluctuated in response to historical events, economic happenings, and policies.
Unemployment typically rises during recessions and falls during periods of economic prosperity. The rate declined during several U.S. wars, particularly during World War II.1 The unemployment rate rose during the recessions that followed those wars.
Key Takeaways The unemployment rate is the percentage of workers who do not have a job but are a part of the labor force. It has historically been impacted by economic events and policies. Since 1929, wars, recessions, and a global pandemic have driven unemployment up. At other times, the health of the U.S. economy has sent unemployment to record heights. When looking at the unemployment rate by year, you can see how it compares to GDP and inflation at the time. Here's how the unemployment rate has changed throughout history and how it has compared to gross domestic product (GDP) and inflation.
How Unemployment Tracks Recessions The unemployment rate is the percentage of unemployed workers in the labor force. It's a key indicator of the health of the country's economy.
Unemployment tracks the business cycle. Recessions are part of that cycle and can cause high unemployment.
Businesses often lay off workers and, without an income, those jobless workers have less money to spend. Lower consumer spending reduces business revenue, which forces companies to cut more payroll. This downward cycle can be devastating to individuals and the economy.
The highest rate of U.S. unemployment was 24.7% in 1933, during the Great Depression. Unemployment remained above 14% from 1931 to 1940.1 It remained in the single digits until September 1982 when it reached 10.1%.
Note If you’re looking for work after a recession, you’ll likely find the going is still tough. It might take several months before the unemployment rate falls.
During the Great Recession, unemployment reached 10% in October 2009. In 2020, it reached double digits again (14.7%) in April when the U.S. was dealing with a pandemic and recession.2
How the US Fights High Unemployment The Federal Reserve uses expansionary monetary policy to lower interest rates.3 Congress uses fiscal policy to cr-eate jobs and provide extended unemployment benefits.
The unemployment rate typically falls during the expansion phase of the business cycle. The lowest unemployment rate in modern history was 1.2% in 1944.4
Note It may seem counterintuitive to think unemployment can get too low, but it can.
The Federal Reserve does not target specific figures for the natural rate of unemployment, but simply seeks "the maximum level of employment" as part of its long-term financial policy goals.5
The unemployment rate is a lagging indicator. When an economy begins to improve after a recession, for example, the unemployment rate may continue to worsen for some time. Many companies hesitate to hire workers until they regain confidence in the recovery, and it may take several quarters of economic improvement before they feel confident that the recovery is real.
US Unemployment Rates by Year The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has measured unemployment since the stock market crash of 1929.
Gross domestic product (GDP) is the measure of economic output by a country. When the unemployment rate is high, there are fewer workers. That could lead to less economic output and a lower rate of GDP.
When inflation rises, the prices of goods and services go up, making them more expensive. If there is a high rate of unemployment at the same time, this could cause issues for those without an income since they may be struggling to afford basic necessities.
The following table shows how unemployment, GDP, and inflation have changed by year since 1929. Unless otherwise stated, the unemployment rate is for December of that year. Unemployment rates for the years 1929 through 1947 were calculated from a different BLS source due to current BLS data only going back to 1948.21 GDP is the annual rate and inflation is for December of that year and is the year-over-year rate.67
@TheRascallyOne I was so sad when I learned that snoop is actually a human n not a dog. Next thing they'll tell me is that Rob Zombie isn't even a real zombie
I think Biden has been a good president. I have not always agreed with everything he has done, but he has enacted and proposed many beneficial policies. One of his best was taking action on campaign finance reform with the DISCLOSE Act. And he has urged action on gun control.
I don't think he's a great presid!ent; I think he's mediocre. I also think he was far and away the best choice in 2020, and that's why Biden is president. The "still" in your question is extraneous; you know how elections work!
